Mass! The Eucharistic Thanksgiving
The Eucharistic Prayer is thanks-giving for the heart of life as Christians understand it: for all God’s creation, and especially for the saving works of Christ. It is proclaimed over the bread and wine, symbols of what is most basic, food and drink from the tables of ordinary people.!
Let us look at the different aspects of the Eucharistic Prayer.!
THANKSGIVING: In the name of the entire people of God, the priest praises the Father and gives Him thanks for all His blessings.!
ACCLAMATION: United with the angels and saints, the people sing the “Holy, Holy, Holy.” This acclamation forms part of the Eucharistic Prayer and together with other Eucharistic acclamations this proclamation helps everyone enter into and identify with the prayer. (Remember, this is not simply the priest’s prayer. We involve ourselves fully when we join our hearts to the words sung or spoken by the priest, when we sing acclamations with full voice.) The acclamations engage the assent and enthusiasm of all the people. (So be sure to pray!
these with meaning and enthusiasm.)!
EPICLESIS: During this time the priest holds his hands over the bread and wine. The priest calls on God’s power through the Holy Spirit and asks God to send His Holy Spirit to make holy and transform the gifts of bread and wine, that they may become the body and blood of His Son Jesus.!
NARRATIVE: In the words and actions of Christ, the sacrifice He instituted at the Last Supper is celebrated, when under the appearance of bread and wine he offered His body and blood, gave
them to His apostles to eat and drink and commanded them to carry on this mystery. This narrative (the story of what Jesus did at the Last Supper) is not an interruption of the prayer, rather the priest is “remembering” as Jesus commanded.!
In the end, “Eucharist” is what our life as Christians is all about. Whenever we stand, in suffering, joy, confusion, or routine, our life is always to be thanksgiving, always to be sharing
in God’s bounty with all in need.!
Peace and love to all.!
Rev. Peter EnyanBoadu!
Blessing of Mothers!
During the season of Easter, what a great time to remember our mothers and ask for God’s blessing on them. It is God who ultimately gave us life. It is through God’s unselfish lovemirrored in our mothers’ willingness to associate their love with God’s and take the risk to love us into lifethat we have the opportunity for life. We remember our mothers this Mother’s Day with much love. !
!
A special thank you to everyone who participated in bringing about a beautiful May Crowning of our Blessed Mother last Sunday at the 10 o’clock Mass.! This is, indeed, a special honor for our Blessed Mother and the children’s participation made this extra special!! !
May Food Collection!
Our food collection NEXT Weekend, May 19/20, will benefit Dimitri House. !
“But woe to you who are filled now, for you will be hungry…” Many who are hungry now will still be hungry, but through the continued
generosity of our faith community we are making a difference. Your donation is greatly appreciated. !

Diocesan Missions Collection (2nd Collection for the Propagation of the Faith) NEXT Sunday, May 19/20!
“Go therefore making disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19!20!
In light of Christ’s mandate, the Diocesan Mission Office supports missionaries and their work of proclaiming and witnessing to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in developing countries, especially those missionaries from the
Diocese of Rochester. The Mission Office works to include the local Church in missionary activity by mission education and inviting the ministries of the diocese to both contribute to and learn from the missions. It also encourages area parishes to form parish to parish relationships, which unite the people of God from different nations.!!!
The Mission Office motivates the Church of Rochester to support the worldwide work of the Missionary Church through prayer, works of justice, and financial offerings. Material support is provided through various diocesan appeals.!The Diocesan Mission Sunday collection is held in the Spring (third Sunday in May), which specifically supports the Mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Brazil and the Mission of the Sisters of Mercy in Chile. !
Church tradition calls for the wearing of the color red to celebrate the Feast of Pentecost.!Make this a spiritual day by wearing something red at whatever Mass you attend NEXT weekend, May 19/20.!

Dear Music Ministry and Parish Family,!
Happy Mother’s Day!!The month of May, dedicated to our Blessed Mother always is an occasion for a moving tribute of love, faith, hope, courage and peace. She truly is our Mother who will
console us and cradle us with her unconditional love. !
The new hymn, “Holy is His Name” has been added to our
repertoire and was sung last weekend. If you would like to hear it at home, just go on youtube. Don’t worry, we will sing it many more times in the coming months.!
Beautiful Mother Mary, help us to remember that our strength, faith, and love lies in you. You are our inspiration. Your loving and forgiving heart teaches us to have a heart like yours. Thank you, Blessed Mother. !
Love and Peace,!
