SPECIAL COLLECTION– On the weekend of May 18th &
19th our archdiocese takes up the special collection for the
Church in Central and Eastern Europe. The collection provides
vital funding for our brothers and sisters living in countries that
were once under communist rule. Restoring the Church, in both
its structures and its spiritual life, has been difficult, but with
your support we can help build a brighter future for this region.
Thank you in advance for your support.

AN AMAZING PROGRAM– The “God Given Bread” program
at the Atonement Lutheran Church on Market Street is in urgent
need for new teams to serve noon meals. With summer coming
and school food programs not available for children, as well as
adults, those lunches are a real God Given haven. Good meals are
served every Tuesday and Thursday, and have been for years.
New teams are greatly needed. Make up your own 3 person team,
or join into other teams. For more information, please call either
the church at 246-8322, or Anita at 246-4016.

JOKE– An overweight colleague of mine decided it was time to shed
some excess pounds. He took his new diet seriously, even changing his
driving route to avoid his favorite bakery. One morning, however, he
arrived at work carrying a gigantic coffeecake. We all scolded him but
his smile remained cherubic. “This is a very special coffeecake,” he
explained. “I accidentally drove by the bakery this morning and there in
the window were a host of goodies. I felt this was no accident, so I
prayed, ‘Lord, if you want me to have one of those delicious coffeecakes,
let me have a parking place directly in front of the bakery.’ And sure
enough,” he continued, “the eighth time around the block, there it was!”

PRAYER FOR LIFE
Jesus, Mary and Joseph we love you very much.

from preborn to natural death.

MAKING ALL THINGS NEW
God our Father, through the Gospel and the Eucharist,
You bring us together as Your Church in the
Archdiocese of New York.
Send us Your Holy Spirit, to enlighten our minds and guide our actions
as we plan for the future of parish life in this Archdiocese.
Help us learn new ways to strengthen and revitalize our parish
communities, and to be good stewards of the spiritual and material gifts
that sustain them.
Bless our work, so that our parishes may continue to witness to the truth
of the Gospel, and be a sign of Your love for all people.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

TO OUR PASTOR AND FRIEND
Saying goodbye to a priest who has become your friend isn’t
easy. Fr. Bill is the priest who brought us together in community to
worship the Lord, to honor each other, and to have fun.
The tears we shed and the sadness we felt upon hearing of his
transfer were for us, not him, because we knew the tremendous loss we
were going to experience.
But, we don’t want our void to weigh on Fr. Bill. Instead, we
wish him good luck, good health, and must success in this next chapter of
his ministerial life. We are happy for him because he will be doing
exactly what he has always wanted to do. How fortunate Father is to
fulfill a life’s desire.
We ask that in the future when Father thinks of St. John’s in
Centerville, he sends a wave.
And now, let’s send off Father Bill with a blessing for who he
is and all that he does:
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
GOD BLESS YOU, FATHER BILL
Please join our parish community for a Pot Luck Luncheon in honor
or Father Bill on Sunday, June 9th
after the 10:30 AM Holy Mass in the Parish Hall.
We ask all to bring your favorite dish to share!

PARISHIONER’S COMMENT– When I realized that what I
was giving would not, over a lifetime, buy a house, I realized I
had not even symbolically made an effort to make the Lord as
comfortable in my life as He has, is and will do for me in His.
Tithing makes room for Him by making room for others.
PASTOR’S COMMENT– Thanks, as always, to all who are
faithful stewards and good tithers.
