Holy Saturday - Easter Vigil The fire can be seen outside as we enter the church. We invite you to join the priest around the fire or to gather in the Gathering Space. If you are uncomfortable walking in the dark, you may sit in the pews in the church. Easter Sunday - Christ has Risen! The church will remain open throughout the day. You are invited to come and visit with family and guests and take home Easter Water from the Baptismal font. We celebrate Life Himself today and he has brought us with him into His Life. God does not depend on anyone or anything for life. We do depend on God and God gives us life by wishing us into being at our beginning. As Psalm 139:13-14 says, “Truly you have formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb. I give you thanks that I am fearfully, wonderfully made; wonderful are your works.” God became one of us in Jesus so that we could enjoy eternal life. It is so amazing that because of Jesus being God/Man, and made capable of dying he liberated us from dying eternally. He made it possible for mortal human beings to live forever. Jesus is still human even as he has a glorified body. Our God is still one of us, and he lives forever as God yet dwells among us. This gives human life great, unspeakable dignity. Four of us priests went to see the movie Unplanned this last Monday. It is about Abby Johnson who became the youngest clinic director in the history of Planned Parenthood, then she was assisting in an abortion watching the ultra sound as the suction tube came into the womb searching for the baby. The Forty Days for Life faithful were praying outside when she witnessed first hand the abortion and it was a life altering conversion. She left Planned Parenthood and joined the people praying on the sidewalk. It is very graphic, but it is for a purpose. It drives home the reality of abortion. Unplanned is coming to Grafton April 25 -28th. There is a possibility to have it come on April 24th. I have been asking parents who have seen it what age groups could see it. One has said 7th and up. Another said she was not sure, but that 9th through 12th should see it for sure. I would like parents to make the decision about whether their kids should go, but I think parents should go so they can discuss with their children what they saw. It is definitely something someone would want to discuss afterwards. I could not walk away from such a movie without discussing with someone what I had just seen. Jesus gave us life so that we might have life and protect all those who are vulnerable. Those in the womb are the most vulnerable. In the end when he comes back as King he will ask us what we did for him: “I assure you, as often as you did it for one of my least brothers, you did it for me” (Mt 25:40). MAY YOU HAVE A BLESSED EASTER SEASON! Mission Statement To walk by Faith, to be known by Love and to be a Beacon of Light in our community. We are asking that you pray 3 Hail Marys after each Mass for people to come back to their Catholic Faith. Biblical Foundations of the Eucharist How can we explain the Eucharist to the people in our world who come from many different walks of life, whether they are Catholic, Protestant, secular, or still seeking? As Dr. Tim Gray will show us, we can do so by following the method and example of Jesus himself, who tackled very similar objections from the people of his own time. By learning how to better understand and respond to the objections of those who disagree with us, we can better evangelize and share the truth of the Holy Eucharist with the World.

We are looking for donations of Glass, Ceramic or Resin Angels, at least 12” high to be used for table decorations in the Parish Center. Call Judy Keeley at 520-1002.

Adoration Chapel: As expected Bishop Folda checked out St. John's Blessed Sacrament Adoration Chapel when he was here for Confirmations. He was very pleased, "Very nice." He was particularly pleased with the size (it can seat 8 or more people) and the fact it ties in with the church. If you haven't seen the chapel, come pray there for a few minutes any time the church is open. (The chapel is next to the sacristy behind the altar. ) The Blessed Sacrament is exposed in the chapel at the times listed near the entrance to the chapel.
