You are cordially invited to the retirement celebration for Deacon Dino Franch

Deacons are ordained for life long ministry in the Church. In the Diocese of Joliet, deacons who reach the age of 70 may resign their canonical assignment and their diaconal status is changed from active to retired.

Deacon Dino and Raffy have decided that at 88 years of age, he will be retiring.

To thank Deacon Dino for his many years of dedicated service to the people of the Diocese of Joliet, we are holding a thank you reception at Holy Ghost Parish located at 254 N. Wood Dale Road in Wood Dale.

The celebration will be held in Ryan Hall after the 5:00 PM Mass on Saturday, September 14 and after the 8:30 and 10:30 AM Masses on Sunday, September 15.

Please mark your calendars and join us in saying thank you to this wonderful servant of God.

They are always there to listen and to lend a helping hand. They show you respect and they try to understand. They give their love, devotion and so much more, that’s easy to see. Grandparents, what perfect examples of the kind of person that we should be.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

(RCIA) is for adults seeking to learn more about the Catholic faith and

is available to those individuals who:

are curious to know more about the Catholic faith or know someone

who is curious

have never been baptized

have been baptized as Catholic, but never had an opportunity to complete

their sacramental experience through Confirmation and/or Eucharist.

have been baptized in another Christian denomination, and would now

like to enter into full communion in the Catholic Church. This is a process of discernment, instruction, prayer and counseling to help seekers on their way. RCIA is for adults at any stage of life who are seeking a closer relationship with God and His faith community. Now may be the right time to inquire if the Catholic faith is the map for the rest of your life’s journey. Our sessions meet on Monday nights in English and Spanish from

August to May.

We are looking for people to share their faith with our young people as Catechist or Assistant. We are especially looking for catechists for our Catholic youth on Thursday nights. Our Thursday night program meets weekly 6-7:30 pm to prepare our teenagers for Confirmation and will be a time to grow our youth ministry. On Wednesday nights grades 1-5 meet weekly, with many of those students preparing for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Other are continuing their faith formation. We can offer you the training, materials and support you need and you just have to provide your love of Jesus Christ and be willing to share it. Baptisms: Pre-baptism Class is required before your date will be set. Please contact the parish office to register.

Weddings: Spiritual Preparation begins at least SIX months in advance. Do not make your reservations until you have met with the pastor.

Sacrament of the Sick: First Friday of the month at 7:30 am.

The Diocese of Joliet Victim Assistance Coordinator is available to help victims /survivors of child sexual abuse by a cleric, employee or volunteer of the Catholic Church.

The Victim Assistance Coordinator will report to Bishop Conlon and coordinate efforts of pastoral support and outreach to assist in the healing process.

The Victim Assistance Coordinator can also assist in making a report to civil authorities.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK Parishioners who are seriously ill or have surgery scheduled should receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Call the Parish Office to request this sacrament. Hospitalized or homebound parishioners desiring a pastoral visit should call the Parish Office.

FOCCUS TRAINING The FOCCUS Pre-Marital Inventory is part of the marriage preparation process for all engaged couples in the Diocese of Joliet. Priests, deacons, and other parish staff members, as well as parish-approved and trained lay couples, may use FOCCUS with engaged couples.

There will be a one-day training program for FOCCUS at the Blanchette Catholic Center in Crest Hill on Saturday, October 5 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Individuals or couples will need to purchase the Fourth Edition FOCCUS Facilitator Manual for $50.00. There will also be a $10.00 fee for the day, which includes lunch.
