OUR MISSION
We, the faith community of St. Joseph Parish,
Kingston-Plympton, believe that we are called
daily to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ:
to learn, to share, and to live the message of Jesus. Guided by
the Holy Spirit we recognize that we are unique with diverse
gifts from God and that as Christ's disciples we are to develop
these gifts of Time-Talent-Treasure, to nurture and strengthen
our families, our community, our nation, and our world.
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS: The RCIA is
the process through which interested adults and older
children are gradually introduced to the Roman Catholic
faith and way of life. Contact Ann Moberg: 508-465-1959.

Parish at least one year in advance of the date on which
you wish to be married.

From The Desk Of Our Pastor
Dear Friends,
This past weekend I attended the Confirmation Retreats for 77 of our high school students which were held at Sacred
Heart High School. The retreat was an amazing life-changing day for many of our students. I want to thank Sr. Alice who
gave us the use of this wonderful facility without cost. Sister Alice went out of her way to make sure that we not only
felt at home but also made sure that anything that we needed was given to us. Thank you Sr. Alice and the Sacred
Heart High School community for being so generous to us.
The retreat team is led by two great men: Rick Davies and Jim Joubert. Rick and Jim have been directing the Confirma-
tion Retreat for many years and each year it just gets better. I want to thank Paula Leaverton, our Prep I and II Director
and Kathleen McKenna for their many hours of prep work and for being such a wonderful part of both of these re-
treats. I also want to thank Michelle Davies who also put in countless hours of work, attending to every detail of this
retreat including the dinner. To the many parents and peer ministers who were group leaders and speakers who gave
so much of themselves this weekend I offer you my heartfelt thanks. Finally to the Confirmation Candidates—you were
amazing and know that I am praying for you in a most special way. St. Joseph Parish is so blessed by this retreat experi-
ence.
The parish is indeed very fortunate that Kathleen McKenna has agreed to return to her former position as the Director
of the Family Faith Formation Program. Kathleen began this program about five years ago and as a result she knows
every detail of it. Welcome back to the team!
Well, it has been a busy week but a good week and a blessed week. In closing I want to wish my mom and every mom
at St. Joseph Parish a Happy Mother’s Day.
God bless,
Fr. Wally
PARISH FINANCES: The collection for the Offertory on the weekend of April 30/ May 1 was $4,980.00. The budgeted
amount needed per week is $8,000 to deal with the present operating deficit. The second collection for the earthquake
victims of Equador was $810.00. Thank you for your continued support and generosity.
ST. JOSEPH PARISH OFFERS ONLINE GIVING, a web-based electronic contribution application. We are providing this
service so that you have the option to manage your contributions online or with your offering envelopes. This service is
safe and secure and it is convenient for you and for our parish staff. Sign up for Online Giving by visiting our parish
website www.stjosephkingston.com and selecting the Online Giving link.
Please remember St. Joseph Parish in your will.
CATHOLIC APPEAL
Thank you to all who have participated in St. Joseph’s 2016 Catholic Appeal campaign. Your support is the most effec-
tive way our parish community can join together in the Church’s universal work to care for our neighbors. With
$29,763.00 already pledged, we are at 108% of goal. If you have yet to give, please pick up a pledge form at the exits of
the church or visit bostoncatholicappeal.org. Thank you for your prayers and support.

WHAT IS THE BIBLE? How often have you thought, “I don’t even know enough about the Bible to attend a Bible study—I’d
be completely lost. THE DICKINSON SERIES: EXPLORING THE BIBLE is a small-group study made exactly for you. The pro-
gram will help you to explore some of the best-known Bible passages and to discover some of the many ways that they can
be interpreted. You will learn how the Bible as we know it was put together, who decided what parts were in and what
parts were out, and where to go with your questions about the wonderful, baffling, beautiful, unsettling book we call the
Bible.
The first six-week course in this series, What Is The Bible? will be offered at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Marsh-
field on Tuesday mornings from 10:00 am until 11:45 am beginning May 10th. Advanced registration is required. The class
can be taken either informally or to receive Continuing Education Units and/or eventual certification in biblical literacy.
Textbooks will be available for purchase at the first class for $10.
Call the CHRISM Office at 781-331-5194 or email [email protected] to register or request additional informa-
tion.
DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES, we need to reschedule our child safety lessons for:
Monday, May 9, 4:00 to 5:30 for Grades 1 & 2
Wednesday, May 11, 4:00 to 5:30 for Grades 3 & 4
Thursday, May 12, 4:00 to 5:30 for Grades 5 & 6
