St. Joseph’s

To give to the needy is true charity. All other gifts have the nature of a measured return.

Every human being must have a same opportunity to have a peace living. Every one of us should

give more to private, charitable effort to eliminate poverty. Our Managing Director desires for

extending his support to the homes of the aged people, children suffering with cerebral palsy and

orphanages through St. Joseph’s ( ), non-governmental organization. Also he wants

to invoke the service mind of student community by encouraging visits to these homes. For this

academic year 2017-18 St. Joseph’s committed to contribute more than

Rs.85,00,000 towards the developments of these homes by the way of infrastructure

developments, teaching and learning aids, food and cloth requirements. For this academic year

we are going to support Primary Health Centre in and around campus. In the forthcoming

academic years also, the contribution amount will face the increasing trend.

For the past five academic years more than 100 NGO’s, which include 80 orphanages, 15

old age homes and 10 CP children home in and around Chennai have been visited by our student

volunteers. During 2016 – 2017 we also visited Primary Health Centre. These visits gave our

students to be aware of the existence of poor, downtrodden life style and acknowledge their own

good fortune and create a sense of duty towards those less fortunate which is the need of the hour

for our country’s development. Further, it makes the young mind to serve the needy, to make

them responsible citizens. Past five academic years, continuously our college has arranged

several visits/ semester for various homes.

St. Joseph’s has sponsored around Rs. 60,00,000 and the student volunteers willing and

whole heartedly spent around Rs. 20,00,000 which was utilised in an useful manner by offering

the basic needs such as rice bags, groceries, toys, cloths, pillows, medicine etc., for the inmates.

For the past five years our college provides snacks in the evening to the students of Government

High School, Semmencherry. Our student volunteers also taking evening classes along with

school teachers for the children studying 10th standard in that school. School attendance very

much improved. In the SSLC public examination school results were improved, this year also we

expect more than 90% pass. St. Joseph’s provides food and transport facilities for

several NGO and Government High School to conduct and participate their programs.

Our college offers special lunch (both Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian dishes with sweets,

savouries and ice creams) to all the inmates of orphanages and old age homes. Our students are

provided with transport facilities to visit the homes on activity Saturdays. All the students, from

first year to final year both UG and PG enthusiastically participated and mingled with inmates of

home and spend their daytime with them share their happiness. They also spend their pocket

money in useful manner by offering needy things.

We wish to continue this service forever.
