1. ABOUT COLLEGE
History of HAES and St. Joseph’s College
Archdiocese of Hyderabad has been serving the people in the field of Education, Social
Development and Health apart from its Religious activities since 1850. The Archdiocese
established a separate Educational Society in 1983 under the banner of HAES which has 24
institutions including St. Joseph’s Degree and PG College and St. Joseph’s PG College, an equal
opportunity provider, celebrating 18th year of its existence. Hence, it is right time that the college
benchmarks the education system to realize the vision and mission of the college- “Providing a
distinct environment of excellence in education with humane values and social commitment in
offering quality education”.
His Grace Late Most Rev. Dr. S. Arulappa, Archbishop of Hyderabad blessed the building and
Prof. Rama Kistaiah, former Vice-chancellor of Osmania University inaugurated the college on
10 July 1997. Late Most Rev. M. Joji, Archbishop of Hyderabad during his tenure from 2000-
2011 was a real inspiration to the institution in seeking permanent affiliation, NAAC
accreditation and finally entering into Autonomy status. His dream was that St. Joseph’s College
should always be number one. After his demise, the college gets orientation and guidance from
Most Rev. Dr.Thumma Bala, Archbishop of Hyderabad, who is well known for his vision and
simplicity. Rev.Fr.Dr.V.K.Swamy was the founder Principal and at present Rev.Fr.Vincent
Arokiadas continues to lead the institution to greater heights.
St. Joseph’s Degree & PG College established in the year 1997, is one of India’s leading
educational institutions in the state providing quality education to students.
Today we have over 2000 students pursuing 12 programs at UG level and 6 programs at
PG level and have obtained permanent affiliation of the Osmania University in 2007.
Most Rev.Dr.Thumma Bala, Archbishop of Hyderabad is the Chairperson of the college.
The College is currently marching ahead under the exemplary leadership of
Rev.Fr.Vincent Arokiadas, renowned educationist with more than 15 years of experience,
and the college is making huge strides towards reaching high standards in quality
education and achieving the grant of PG Autonomy status in 2013 is a clear indicator of
his quest for excellence.
5
The college is accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ Grade with a CGPA of 3.51 in 2008 and
re-accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ Grade with a CGPA of 3.49 in 2014
It is the First Autonomous Co-education Institution in India to be Graded with 3.49
CGPA in the First cycle by NAAC.
It is the first unaided and youngest college to get Autonomous status in 2011 under the
OU jurisdiction and was granted 2(f) and 12 (B) by UGC.
We offer a well - structured curriculum, delivered by well qualified and dedicated
teachers, who instill not just the knowledge but the right attitude and skills in the students
to become global citizens.

29. PARENT - TEACHER MEET
Parent Teacher meet was held on 6th September 2014 and again on 7th February 2015 for
respective sections of B.Com I, II and III year (General, Computers, Honors and Professionals).
Parent teacher Interface ‘is a time for listening, sharing and working together’. It is conducted
every year to discuss student’s progress at college and find solutions to their academic and
behavioral problems. Parent-teacher meet supplement the information conveyed by marks
secured by students in exams by focusing on student’s specific strengths and weaknesses in
individual subjects and generalizing the level of inter-curricular skills and competencies. Such
meetings are successful when parents and teachers have two- way conversation about how to
help the student succeed.
The meeting gave the parents a scope to gauge and discuss their ward’s academic progress with
individual teachers. It has also given an opportunity for teachers to explain the student’s
performance and progress to their parents. These meetings helped to focus on the student’s
strengths and needs both academically and behaviorally.
59
Parents of around 160 students attended the meet on 6th September 2014 from first, second and
third year and Parents of around 150 students attended the meet on 7th February 2015 from first,
second and third year. Parents were happy at the quality education given and also for the learning
atmosphere provided to their wards. The Interface was a success with parents giving their feed
back and suggestions on the curriculum and developmental aspects of the college.
