Dear parishioners, My prayers are with all of you as we enter into Lent and look forward to the celebration of Easter! I am hap-py to share the exciting news that as of writing this letter, I am currently 9 weeks pregnant! First and fore-most, I would like to ask for your prayers for the continued safety and growth of Baby Valenzuela. Second, I would like to ask for prayers for me and my family, because I have a condition called hyperemesis gravi-darum, which means that all of my pregnancies come with prolonged, very severe "morning sickness." After many conversations with Fr. Mark and the rest of the wonderful staff here at St. Julia Parish, we have decided that it is best for me to take a step down from active ministry during this time so that I can focus on my own health and safety. I will be staying on in an administrative role throughout the spring, but I will have limited office hours and will be distributing most of my duties to the very capable crew of staff and volunteers we have here at St. Julia Parish. This will be done with an eye towards leaving my position at the end of May, as family life and parish work are increasingly difficult to balance; however, the Valenzuelas won't be leaving St. Julia's! We intend to stay with this parish community and continue to worship and grow in faith with you all. Most programs will continue to function as scheduled, but please pay attention to Youth Ministry emails for any upcoming dates as warranted. I will not be answering office phone calls on a regular basis, but will be checking emails. I appreciate your patience and especially your prayer support! Peace, Mrs. Christina Valenzuela, OP Director of Youth Formation and Ministry (Gr 6-12)
