Grant us, O merciful God, protection in our weakness, that we, who keep the Memorial of the Immaculate Mother

of God, may with the help of her intercession, rise up from our iniquities.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

David Escalona† Sunday, February 10, 2019 to Saturday, February 16, 2019 Then I heard

the voice the Lord say-ing,

“Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” “Here I am, “I said, “send me!”— Isaiah 6:8

— Isaías 6:8 Prayer while visiting the Most Blessed Sacrament My Lord Jesus Christ, for the love which You bear to men, You remain night and day in this Sacrament full of compassion and of love, awaiting, calling, and welcoming all who come to visit You. I believe that You are present in the Sacrament of the Altar: I adore You from the abyss of my nothingness, and I thank You for all the graces which You have bestowed upon me and in particular for having given me Yourself in this Sacrament, for having given me your holy Mother Mary for my advocate, and for having called me to visit You in this chapel. I now salute Your most loving Heart: and this for three ends: 1. In thanksgiving for this great gift; 2. To make amends to You for all the outrages which You receive in this Sacrament from all Your enemies; 3. I intend by this visit to adore You in all the places on earth in which You are the least revered and the most abandoned. My Jesus, I love You with all my heart. I grieve for having so many times offended Your in inite goodness. I promise with Your grace never more to offend You in the future. Now, miserable and unworthy though I be, I consecrate myself to You without reserve; I give You my entire will, my affections, my desires, and all that I possess. From now on dispose of me and of all that I have as You please. All that I ask of You and desire is Your holy love, inal perseverance, and the perfect accomplishment of Your will. I recommend to You the souls in purgatory; but especially those who had the greatest devotion to the most Blessed Sacrament and to the Blessed Virgin Mary. I also recommend to You all poor sinners. My dear Savior, I unite all my affections with the affections of Your most loving Heart; and I offer them, thus united, to Your eternal Father, and beseech Him in Your name to vouchsafe, for Your love, to accept them. Amen. by St. Alphonsus Liguori

The Reign of God comes about because people com-mit to reversing their lives completely, to embracing new vision, new values. Many popular television shows exploit an unattractive side of human nature by pitting contestants against one another, even to the point of performing dangerous stunts or devious schemes, to gain money or favor. At the liturgy, we counter that impulse by com-mitting ourselves to live generously. In response to Christ’s total gift, we offer bread and wine as the em-blems of our lives, our hopes, our joys and sorrows. The bread and wine carried to the altar contain our lives, and by offering our lives to God, we prepare to receive the gift of God’s own life. We are to become what we receive: the body of Christ. On Sundays, this self‑giving is often accompanied by a collection and procession of gifts for the poor and money for the upkeep of the parish. There are certain-ly other methods of collecting money, some perhaps more efficient. Yet the act of giving from our abun-dance, and attending to the needs of the poor, opens us up to participation in the changes the Reign of God requires.——James Field

Please join St. Lawrence Community in prayer for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Let us pray together for our seminarians.

Lord Jesus, eternal High Priest, grant these seminarians the wisdom and grace they need in their formation. Help them to grow in holi-ness and integrity for service to your people as their future priests. Guide them in their studies, deepen their life of prayer, and sustain them in the difficult moments they face. Through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Anthony of Padua, we entrust these men to you, who live and reign with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, on God, forever and ever. Amen.

Amen.

The Magnificat is available for purchase in the Parish office for only $6. If you take one from the Church lobby, be sure to take your $6 donation to the office any day Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm (we close 12-1pm for lunch).
