Scott Gorgen (2-5,4.36 ERA) allowed four runs on six hits in 4.2 innings of work to pick up the loss for the Cardinals. Jake Shaffer had a strong nightgoing 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI. Oscar Taveras was named Texas League player of the week (June 4-10). Over the span ofthe past week, Taveras batted .500 (14-for-28) with two home runs, three doubles, 11 runs scored and four RBI.

PALM BEACH CARDINALS (A) 1st Half Record: 28-34, 3rd Florida State League, South DivisionPalm Beach dropped the series finale against Fort Myers (Twins) 8-4. Drew Benes (3-5, 5.59 ERA) pitched 6.0 innings allowing onlytwo runs on five hits in a no-decision. The Cardinals’ bullpen combined to allow six runs in 3.0 innings of relief. Logan Billbrough(0-2, 2.18 ERA) allowed the game-winning run in an inning of work to receive the loss. Rainel Rosario and Luis De La Cruz bothhad two RBI and 1-for-5 performances at the plate.

QUAD CITIES RIVER BANDITS (A) 1st Half Record: 31-33, 5th Midwest League, Western DivisionQuad Cities continued their offensive success with a 18-7 victory over Burlington (Athletics). Colin Walsh and Tyler Rahmatullaboth had big nights for the River Bandits. Walsh went 2-for-3 with six RBI, four of which came on a two-out grand slam in the sev-enth inning, and two runs scored. Rahmatulla continued his hot-streak going 3-for-6 with four RBI and a three-run blast in thethird inning. Rahmatulla became the first River Bandit to take Midwest League player of the week honors for the week of June 4-10.
