Greeting to Musical students and families
This is my first monthly newsletter. In efforts to keep parents and student aware of what is going on with music here at St Luke. Music activities are
in full swing, as we begin to learn now only the basics of music but also learning the mass parts
and scared music for masses and performances. All our students are doing great from pre-kinder to 8th
grade.
In this monthly newsletter, you’ll find dates of masses, programs and performances. Also
included are some general musical activities for each level. There is a section on reminders and
FAQs. Thank you all so much for your support and patience. If you have any suggestions or ideas
about how to make the newsletter better, let me know. Praying for a spirit filled year of praise and
worship through the gift of music.

FAQ How often does my child go to music?
Each level attends music class once a week.
Does my child have to play a stringed instrument?
No, however, in keeping with state
standards, a student is expected to sing and
play classroom instruments with accurate
intonation.... Students are taught to use the
bells starting in 3rd grade and by 4th grade
those students wishing to play a string
instrument are provided with the
opportunity to learn. If a 4th grader has
experience with any other instrument (pian
or flute ) he/she is allowed to use it. Other
4th graders who do not wish to play an
instrument will learn on the bells.
Do I have to buy a stringed instrument if my child is
interested in learning?
No, there are school instruments that the
students may use during in class only and I
have a limited inventory of string
instruments for those unable to obtain one.
Our program has two Double basses and 2
cellos, available.
