Our Adult Faith Word, Eucharist, Life
Twenty-first Sunday Ordinary Time
Be doers of the word... James directs our attention
to the widows and orphans
of our world
In other words
he admonishes us
to carry out the works of justice
without which love cannot thrive
We perceive in our world
many instances of injustice
and may very well wonder
where to initiate just action
If we were to be able see the world of need
as God sees it our hearts
would need constant renewal
to remain close to the concerns of God
When the Word finds a home
within us we find the heart of God
and can allow our hearts
to see others with compassion
and to animate our actions
In the Eucharistic assembly
the Word is proclaimed
and is heard by us
to make a claim on our lives
As we join the action of God
in the Passover of Jesus
from death into life
and experience communion
with the great gift
of the person of Jesus
we can allow our hearts
to be transformed
Go in peace
are the words that send us forth
with hearts renewed
to see the world with God’s eyes
and to take action
guided by the Spirit of Jesus
Today’s Psalm Response
The one who does justice will live in the
presence of the Lord. (Psalm 15)
Mark 7 Deuteronomy 4
Psalm 15 James 1

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
A PARENT Orientation session (approximately 30 minutes) is re-quired before a child may attend the Atrium appropriate for them. The last-chance session will be offered Thursday evening, Sept 6th, at 6 pm. Children’s sessions will begin on Sep-tember 9. For more information, contact Ro at [email protected] 901-857-1987.
Help needed for our CGS program:
For parents and other interested
parishioners
Carpentry: do you like to build things? We need a few
materials built.
Are you handy with sculpting clay? We’ve got a job for
you!
What about painting small figures, or doing calligra-
phy? (or even printing neatly)
Paper cut-outs of some materials
And last, but definitely not least, we will need 1 or 2 people
to assist with the weekly Catechesis sessions. It is not nec-
essary to commit to every Sunday. If you are curious and
maybe even interested, I invite you to come in and explore
further. It would be important for you in making such a
commitment to have an understanding of what this model of
Catechesis really is and what is involved. Rebekah will pro-
vide a training session for those who may be interested.
For more information about Catechesis of the Good Shep-
herd, visit cgsusa.org.

PARISH NEWS
You Get to Vote! When our front doors are repaired, they will be repainted, so we will have a fresh new look to both protect the doors into the future, and be a sign of the vibrant new life within! We want to hear your voice! Today, you’ll notice there are 3 poster boards with the colors for you to choose your favorite. This week, you get to look; next week the ballot box will be ready for everyone 8 and older to cast their vote! The winning color will be announced the following week.
The door project was made possible by a crowd-funding site: IOBY (In Our Back Yard) that PPC lead-er Terry Woodard set up for parishion-ers to make contri-butions. Since this pilot project has been successful, keep
your eyes open for other fund-raising and pro-ject opportunities for all of us to help make St. Patrick Church an even greater resource for our neighborhood. Any suggestions, ideas, or offers of help for fund-raising, please contact Terry Woodard at terry-
[email protected] or Don Farrell at [email protected]
