WEEKLY MESSAGE FROM FR. LARRY

Dear Friends, Today we celebrate Corpus Christi – the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. When Jesus told his followers that they must eat his flesh and drink his blood he meant that they must take his very life into themselves. Jesus is the supreme "sacrament" of God, nourishing the faithful with his own body and blood on their spiritual journey. Without this sacred food, we cannot have eternal communion with him and his Father. Today is also Father’s Day and whether your dad is alive to enjoy the day with you or has moved on to Eternal Life, say a prayer for him. If he’s alive, but he’s not in your life, please say a prayer for him anyway. And while you’re at it, say a prayer for all those who have fulfilled a dad’s role in his absence because these are very special people. Last but not least, please join me in welcoming our new principal to St. Marianne School – Mr. Armando Carvahlo. Mr. Carvahlo most recently taught at St. Joseph’s School in Hawthorne. We are very blessed that he has agreed to lead our school in the coming year and once he starts here, I will introduce him at all of the Masses. Have a wonderful week! God bless, Fr. Larry

Queridos amigos, Hoy celebramos la Solemnidad del Santísimo Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo. Cuando Jesús les dijo a sus seguidores que deberían comer de su carne y beber de su sangre, él quería darles a entender de que deberían permanecer en él. Jesús es el "sacramento" supremo de Dios, alimentando a los fieles con su propio cuerpo y sangre en su camino espiritual. Sin este alimento sagrado, no podemos tener comunión eterna con él y su Padre. Hoy también es el Día del Padre, y si tiene la dicha de tener a su padre vivo disfruta el día con él, pero si su padre ya paso a Vida Eterna, diga una oración por él. Si está vivo, pero no está en tu vida, por favor, diga una oración por él de todos modos. También hagamos una oración para todos aquellos que han cumplido el papel de un padre en su ausencia porque estas son personas son muy especiales. Por último, pero no menos importante, le damos la bienvenida a nuestro nuevo director de la Escuela de St. Marianne - Sr. Armando Carvahlo. El Sr. Carvahlo recientemente estuvo en la escuela de St. Joseph's School en Hawthorne. DID YOU KNOW? Hit the park safely this summer A great way to beat summer boredom is to head out to the park and play. For may parents, parks provide the space and place for children to play with others and burn off some energy by running around and exploring. However, even in your own neighborhood parks, parents should be vigilant, and should prepare children with basic safety guidelines. Go over the posted rules of the playground with your children, and make sure they understand the boundaries of where they can and cannot play. FOR THE LIFE OF THE WORLD Within the Body of Christ today, many are suffering as Jesus

once did, and the suffering of one of our “brothers and

sisters” should be of deep concern to us. We who partake of

the Body and Blood of Christ must be prepared to be broken

and poured out as Jesus was “for the life of the world” (John

6:51). We must become willing to suffer ourselves if it will

benefit a member of our own “flesh and blood.”

As you receive Holy Communion this week, open

your heart to the intimate connections that unite us as family

within the Body of Christ. Then reflect on how those bonds

will affect the way you treat your own flesh and blood this
