Our parish is richer by $21,885. That’s the amount of net revenue from the 2017 Fall Festival. Our gross receipts were $72,646 and after expenses the parish received from the Fall Festival Committee a check in the aforementioned amount. This is by just over $3,000 the smallest profit for a Fall Festival but I think you’ll agree with me that the record-breaking heat had something to do with that. I also think that a disconnect between our Morganford location and our current location had also begun, a feeling, if you will, that we were finished forever with that Morganford spot. Nonetheless, $21,885 is more than we had in our bank account on the day before the festival so I am happy to receive it. Added to the profits from the previous 13 Fall Festivals this annual gathering has brought to our parish $458,151. That’s fantastic! I am grateful for this money and I know you will join with me in thanking God for placing among us the faithful and dedicated people who make our Fall Festivals both special and profitable. Next on our list is the Fish Fries. Already people in our parish are examining the cafeteria and its kitchen to see what must be done to enable Fish Fries to occur. As of now it appears that we will need a shack where the frying will occur, increased electricity to accommodate the voltage needed for the steam tables to work, repairs on the dishwasher, and possibly the availability of more refrigeration. I’m sure more things may pop up but I’m glad that our parishioners are on the job and I’m confident that they will be ready to produce fantastic Fish Fries. Saturday is Veterans Day and I urge you to pray in thanksgiving to God for the millions of men and women who have served our country in the armed forces. It was the author Bernard who said, “Without heroes, we are all plain people, and don’t know how far we can go.” Our veterans, each heroes in their own gallant or simple way, have shown us how far we can go, in the service of our nation, in the protection of a comrade and in the extreme of a sacrifice. Because of them we are not plain people! In many ways, veterans of our country are like the saints of our church. The saints by their lives, love, prayers and sacrifices likewise teach us how far we can go in our dedication to the Gospel and commitment to our citizenship in the Kingdom of God. So, just as last week we thanked God for the nobility of all the saints, so this week we thank God for the example of our veterans. May God bless them and may God bless all of you. Father Hambrough

2017 Calendars If you have complimentary type calendars (do not purchase calendars) that you don’t want, please leave them in the marked box in the school cafeteria. They are distributed at a city Catholic hospital. The patients/staff are most grateful for them! If you can bring them in by the end of the year, that would be wonderful. Thank you!

Blest Art will have hand-carved nativity sets, statues, crosses, rosaries, and many other pieces of beautiful olive wood art in the cafeteria next weekend. Please consider purchasing a piece of art from the Holy Land. In doing so you will support the Christian families in Bethlehem, Palestine.
PROLIFE CHRISTMAS CARDS
The St. Mark’s Prolife Committee will again be selling Christmas cards to
benefit the prolife billboard on Hwys. 270 and 55. Samples of the cards are on display in the vestibules of the church. These cards not only help save unborn babies but also keep Christ as the focus of our greetings to loved ones at this special time of the year. All cards are again $12/box of 18 cards, plus one is on sale for $7/box of 20 cards. Please help out and if you do not send cards, consider making a donation to Missouri Right to Life Ed Fund, which is tax deductible. Cards will be sold at the church entrances the weekend of November 11 & 12 and the weekend of December 2 & 3.
TWB Volunteers
We are still in need of 2 volunteers to sell TWB gift cards in the cafeteria after the 9:00 Mass on the 4th
Sunday of the month and after the 11:00 Mass on the 3rd Sunday of the month. It’s not complicated and would only take about 15 minutes of your time. Training provided. If interested in helping please contact Diane Little at 314-743-8602.
Please pray for the repose of the souls of our parishioners who died last week, Janet Walgate and Ron Shipp. May they, and all the faithful departed, rest in peace.

too struggled as she witnessed her son’s sufferings. We ask this in the name of Jesus, her son.
