PARISH PICNIC: Make plans to attend the Parish Picnic on Saturday, September 22nd. Mass will be celebrated outside in the courtyard at 5:30 pm, followed by our traditional fried chicken dinner. As in past years, parishioners are asked to bring their own chairs/blankets, drinks and a side dish to share.

A light lunch will be provided. Friday, October 26th for an 11:30 AM lunch at the Rustic Root Tea Room, in Beach Grove. We have a maximum of ten reservations available. Lunch is off the menu and your cost should be less than $15. We will “leave” the St. Mark Church parking lot at 11:00 AM if you wish to car pool, or you can meet us there. ST. MARK PRAYER CHAIN: The Prayer Chain focuses mostly on the Health and Wellness of our St. Mark Family members and friends. There will NOT be Coffee and Donuts at the 7:30 am or 9:30 am Masses on Sundays, September 23rd, due to the Parish Picnic and September 30th, due to St. Vincent de Paul's Celebration Sunday. They will resume on Sunday, October 7th.

EUCHARIST MINSTER TRAINING: for all Eucharist Ministers and Mass Leaders will be held on Thursday, October 18, at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary. Fr. Bill will lead the training. Questions, contact Mary Horty.

CONFIRMATION Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation for high school students in grades 10-12 will begin Sunday, September 23rd, at 6:00pm in the church. Both parents and youth are encouraged to attend this first meeting. Registration forms will be available at that meeting. HOLY FIRE - MIDDLE SCHOOL: If you have heard or participated in NCYC, you know how incredible that experience is. NFCYM, who produces NCYC, is offering a one-day event for middle school youth in Chicago on Saturday, October 27th. Join us at Holy Fire for an experience of dynamic speakers, music, and the Sacrament of the Eucharist. At Holy Fire, young people will be called to embrace their Baptism and engage with the relevant and powerful Gospel of Jesus. WORLDWIDE MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER WEEKEND: ECONOMY AFFECTS MARRIAGES! It takes much effort just to make ends meet in our world today. Dr. Darren Davis will present a lecture on Studying Black Catholics: Testing My Pa-tience, Faith, and Community at Holy An-gels Parish on Thursday, September 27th at 6pm.

Based on his book, Perseverance in the Parish? Religious Atti-tudes from a Black Catholic Perspective, Dr. Davis will highlight the important findings and examine the challenges involved in researching and writing about Black Catholics.
