ST MARTHA’S COURT

St Martha’s Court was built in 1988 by Guildford Borough Council and is situated in Nursery Gardens, Chilworth, within landscaped grounds, overlooking St Martha’s Hill.

It is 4 miles south east of Guildford on the A248. The bus stop is within easy walking distance and is served by a half-hourly bus service to Guildford.

ACCOMMODATION

The two storey centrally heated building has 37 one bedroom flats, which are fully self contained and connected to the emergency communication system.

FACILITIES

There is a well-equipped laundry room, a bathroom and shower room with disabled bathing facility. There is medical room where a fortnightly surgery is held by the visiting G.P. and a monthly Chiropodist clinic. A hairdressing salon is open weekly.

Two guest room suites are available for relatives and friends for which a small charge is made.

There are six lifts within the Court for tenants’ use.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

The large communal lounge is regularly used for the Lunch Club, which is opened Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) In addition Bingo, Whist, games nights, fish and chip suppers, are just some of the social activities held during the year.

LOCAL AMENITIES

Chilworth village has a general store and Post Office a few minutes walk away. An Access bus calls at the Scheme three times a week to take people to Godalming. A mobile library also calls on a monthly basis.

SUPPORT SERVICES

There is a resident Manager and Deputy Manager, whose role is to ensure tenant welfare. When they are away from the Scheme, a team of Community Support Managers can be called to provide assistance, by using the alarm pull-cord in all the flats and communal areas. Should a member of staff not available for duty; the Scheme will be switched to the Care Centre in Guildford. Should an emergency situation arise, help can be summoned by pulling the red pull-cords that are situated in all of the flats and communal areas, which are linked to the Care Centre.
