Third

Sunday Of

Marriage Moments: “In their thirst for water, the people grumbled against Moses.” (Exodus 17-3) Jesus said to the Samaritan women, “Give me a drink.” (John 4:7) Water is a universal human need. Each time you drink together this week, may it remind you to refresh your love. Parenting Pointers: March 21 is Single Parent Day. (https://www.hrc.org/blog/honoring-all-families-national-single-parent-day). If you are a single parent, we honor you for the effort you must make to provide continuous care for your child, often without the help of a ready partner. If you are blessed to have a helpmate, make plans to reach out to a parent who needs a helping hand next weekend.

Word of Life: To celebrate the Gospel of Life means to celebrate the God of life, the God who gives life… In every child which is born, and in every person who lives or dies, we see the image of God’s glory. We celebrate this glory in every human being, a sign of the living God, an icon of Jesus Christ.

Worship Schedule for

Lent/Holy Week 2020

Lenten Regulations:

Weekdays of Lent: There is no obligation to fast. However, voluntary acts of self-denial are recommended. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday: These are days of Fast and Abstinence from meat. There is a limit of one full meal on these days for all between the ages of 18 and 59 inclusive. Days of Abstinence: (All Fridays in Lent): All who have reached their 14th year are bound to abstain totally from meat. Easter Duty Obligation: After they have received their First Holy Communion, Catholics are bound by the obligation of receiving Holy Communion at least once a year. This precept should be fulfilled during the Easter Season. Catholics are also bound to confess serious (mortal) sins at least once a year, but this is not limited to the Lenten/Easter Season.

Third Sunday of Lent: “The Lord answered Moses… ‘I will be standing there in front of you on the rock in Horeb. Strike the rock, and the water will flow from it, for the people to drink.’” Exodus 17: 5-6 God’s gifts to us are often disguised. The rock appears to be an obstacle, but God turns the rock into life-giving water for the people of Israel. Do we trust that God will turn the obstacles in our lives into life-giving opportunities?
