We are One Family of Faith in Jesus Christ. We are the merged faith community of St. Martin of

Tours, founded in 1906, and Our Lady of Lourdes, found in 1872, both located in

Bushwick, Brooklyn.

We are rooted in God’s word and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church; we value and cele-

brate our diversity, faith, hope and love in the Lord Jesus. It is our belief that the Holy Spirit guides

us through the different moments of our parish life, and that the Blessed Mother of God assists us

in this journey of faith. We are committed to help each other strengthen our faith, communion and

participation through God’s Word, Holy Eucharist and Evangelization. In this way we answer the

call to discipleship in our parish life. We seek to become more

inclusive and vibrant. We want to keep organizing ourselves in a way that all people feel

welcomed, accepted and encouraged to share their gifts and talents.

Be vigilant at all time and pray that you have the strength to stand before the Son of Man. In this reading we look forward to the day of

Jesus' second coming. We do not know the

day or the hour of his coming; only God

knows. Meanwhile, as Jesus has repeatedly

taught us, we must watch and wait for him in

faith, hope, and love. In the hour we least

expect him, he warns, he will come.

Let us pray in today's liturgy for ourselves

and for the whole Church, that the Lord may

find us ready when he returns. May we not

be doing foolish things or be living in fear, but be awaiting the

kingdom with hope as we strive to do God's will.

Our Thanksgiving Bilingual Mass will be held

on Thursday, November 26, at 10:30am in St.

Martin of Tours Church. We will have a special blessing of the

bread after mass. Please Bring one item of food that will be

served that day to be Blessed.

Una de las preguntas que más ha fascinado a los cristianos desde los primeros siglos es cuándo y cómo vendrá Jesús de nuevo. En el evangelio de hoy, Jesús usa un lenguaje dramático y simbólico para hablar del gran evento. El habla del Hijo del Hombre viniendo en poder y gloria. Sin embargo, él insiste en que nadie, excepto del Padre, sabe el día y la hora cuando llegará el fin. Lo que importa realmente sobre la segunda venida de Jesús no es cuando o cómo será. Lo que importa es que estemos siempre preparados para ello y vivamos en fe, esperanza y amor. Para que el Amo nos encuentre listos cuando vuelva.
