ST MARTIN’S CHURCH WELTON BABY PROJECT JUNE 2020 NEWSLETTER

GOOD NEWS

This newsletter is for all of our loyal supporters in these uncertain times of Covid 2020.

“REMAIN IN THAT LOVE” (1)

The next steps in the story of our Baby Project are gradually unfolding …

As you know for almost a year we have been praying for volunteers to assist us with the collection, storage and dispatch of all the wonderful items that you supply to us. During the Covid situation, it has felt as if we were at a dead-end where all our love directed towards new born babies had no place to go. It was sad and frustrating that from the isolation we could not respond to their needs. Then, this month there was a telephone call from a designated “NHS Carer ” from our local G.P practice. She was contacting all those in isolation to check their welfare and point us in any direction that might meet our specific individual needs e.g. shopping, physical and mental well being .In the process I was able to explain that I was being well cared for and enjoying working from home as a lay minister. It was at that

point that the subject of our community work as a Baby Project cropped up. Great interest was expressed and I was asked for details of The St. Martin’s Church Welton Baby Project. A pleasant conversation then ended and I thought no more about it. As a Christian I firmly believe God now had an opportunity to dream about our thwarted need to share and perhaps respond to our prayers. Thanks be to God he did.

Dream”

Two weeks later I received an exciting email it read, ” Hello Gillian, I am the peer support coordinator from the Healthy Young Daventry project run by the council. I have been informed that you have some baby items stored that need distributing. Do you have any items left? I have some Mums in need and would like to collect what is left over if anything. Kind regards Michelle Santhi.” As a result of these original two acts of thoughtful kindness shared forward I can now report that we are totally out of ALL stocks of items not only all baby clothes of every size but also all toiletries contributed by local school children at the Christmas interactive at the Methodist Church, 2 microwave sterilisers and the hand crafted cards made by a supporter also in isolation. I sense this is the beginning of the next part of the St. Martin’s Baby Project journey in 2020.There is more to come next month in Chapter 2, I promise, but in the meantime I need you to know that all you have contributed is finding its way to hundreds of local needy babies and their families thanks to Michelle and the Healthy Young Daventry Council Project,
