Dear Parents, Congratulations to our Social Studies Olympiad Quiz Bowl Team, in our first attempt as a school and their first attempt as a team, Aristidis, Dante, Jeffrey, & Marco made it through the 2 preliminary rounds. Only 8 teams are chosen for the final round and we were one of the top 8 out of 21. In the end, we ended up in 7 th place. Our team will return next year and they are hoping that more students will join them. Future 6 th – 8 th grade parents, I would highly encourage your child to think about putting a team of four together to join this club next year. Congratulations to 6 th graders Jack Cook, Andrew Itchon, Kayla John, Grace Kline, Christina Korotko, Elyse Martel, Emerson McKale, Tiffany Nguyen, Nina Olivieri, Benjamin Schmitt, Aaron Scopone, Savana Simonej and 7 th graders Adrian Garcia, Elizabeth Harrison, Jeannamarie Laureta and Eric Tomenello who will be inducted into the National Junior Honor Society tomorrow night. It is not an easy task to meet the strict guidelines in the areas of Service, Leadership, Scholarship, Character, and Citizenship, but they made it! Thank you in advance to anyone who will be shopping this weekend at Deneweth’s to help support our Green School Program. The proceeds are instrumental in the success of our gardening program and this year, we are looking to utilize those funds to help save the trees along the brick walkway. When we moved in, we removed two trees that were too far gone to save, and every year they appear to be struggling more and more, so we need to act now to find a solution. We are not sure what needs to be done, we have a few ideas, but Mrs. Newlin is on the job and I know she will find out what needs to be done. This Friday we will celebrate two May Crowning celebrations, one for our preschool – 1 st graders at 8:15 in the gym; later that afternoon our 2 nd – 8 th graders will process with Mary on the litter, her court, our First Communion and Confirmation students dressed in their sacrament attire, and then followed by the rest of the students to St. Peter Church. The weather is looking sunny and in the high 60’s, so perfect! We will begin our procession at 1:45; please note, our route will be different from the usual Friday morning route. We will walk straight down Gratiot to Market Street. The Sheriff’s Department will be assisting us in crossing Gratiot as one large group at Market Street. Mr. Willard, Miss Walsh, and Mrs. DiGiorgio will assist us on the smaller streets as we head to Market/Gratiot. You are more than welcome to walk with us or to join us at St. Peter. I thank you in advance for the flowers that you will send in on this day. It is a beautiful sight to behold, a statue of Mary surrounded by beautiful flowers. Not to mention how proud your children are to have contributed to these lovely bouquets at both celebrations. This is a wonderful event, which will be remembered by our students for years to come. Join us as we honor our school saint, the Blessed Virgin Mary, The Queen of the May. I leave you with this prayer to be said not only during the month of May as our focus turns to Mary, but certainly at any time you find yourself thinking about her. O Virgin Mother, In the depths of your heart, you pondered the Life of the son you brought into the world. Give us your vision of Jesus and ask the Father to open our hearts, that we may always see his presence in our lives, and in the power of the Holy Spirit, May grace and blessings be in your path, Maureen Miscavish ST. Dear Parents,

Congratulations to our Social Studies Olympiad Quiz Bowl Team, in our first attempt as a school and their first attempt as a team, Aristidis, Dante, Jeffrey, & Marco made it through the 2 preliminary rounds. Only 8 teams are chosen for the final round and we were one of the top 8 out of 21. In the end, we ended up in 7th place. Our team will return next year and they are hoping that more students will join them.

This Friday we will celebrate two May Crowning celebrations, one for our

O Virgin Mother, In the depths of your heart,

you pondered the Life of the son you brought into the world. Give us your vision of Jesus and ask the Father to open our hearts,
