Child Protection and Creating Safe Environments- Feb-

ruary is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month: Teen dating violence is a serious problem in the United States. One in three high school students experience either physical or sexual violence, or both, that is perpetrated by someone they are dating or going out with. One in 10 high school stu-dents has been purposefully hit, slapped or physically hurt by a boyfriend or girlfriend. Teen dating violence can be physi-cal, emotional or sexual. Teen dating violence can be pre-vented through empowering teens to lead healthy lives and establish healthy relationships. Healthy relationships consist of trust, honesty, respect, equality and compromise. Vis-it https://www.eriercd.org/childprotection/ to see what the diocese is doing to help maintain safe environments for chil-dren and youth.

If you wish to put someone on the Prayer Chain, please contact Shelia Martz at 229-3083 or Jane Wallace at 927-8566.

FAITH FORMATION

RCIA Adults inquir ing about the Catholic Faith or Catholic Adults desiring to learn more about their Faith are welcome. Please contact Father Christopher or call the Church Office at 744-9919 if you are interested in attending.

With Flu Season upon us, many are concerned about health risks of shaking hands during the “Sign of Peace.” The handshake is not an essential part of the rite. More important is the verbal exchange, “The peace of Christ be with you.” or something similar. You may wish to bow your head or offer some reverent gesture of greeting. Please do not take offense if someone does not shake hands. If you are experiencing a cold or respiratory system problem, you should refrain from receiving the Pre-cious Blood from the Cup. Please note there is informa-tive material from the Office of Worship, placed on the bulletin board.

St. Jude Play-a-thon—The Faith Formation classes and their parents will participate in a Play-a-thon to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Sunday, February 16th. Please consider sponsoring a student for this worthwhile cause. Donations will also be collected after Masses on the weekend of February 15th & 16th.

There will be a Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. at Saint Mary Church. Please come spend some time praying before Jesus Christ in Blessed Sacrament for an increase in vocations to the priest-hood and religious life. Everyone is invited to attend.

The 2020 Catholic Services Appeal will be held next weekend in our parish. The CSA is an opportunity for Catholics throughout the diocese to join together in doing the work of Christ. The CSA reminds us that we are all part of the same Catholic family and that the work of the diocese is the work of the church. The church serves each of us and our support is essential in continuing God’s work in our area. Every CSA donation also brings us closer to being able to complete our own parish project . No gift is too small, but please give as generously as you can. The video will be shown at all weekend Mases.

Marienville/North Clarion Food Pantry: Items need-ed are, boxed dinners, boxed potatoes, canned yams, canned fruit, boxed stuffing, canned soup, cake mix, dish soap, dry pasta, canned beans, liquid laundry soap. Items need to be in the Church before February 23rd. Please remember monetary donations are always welcome. Your generosity helps families in our community. Please no expired food items!

A Family Perspective To experience the peace which Christ promises we must shed our grudges, jealousy and feelings of being misunder-stood, unappreciated or ignored. Peace and anger don’t mix. Today’s gospel warns, if you want peace in your heart and home, get rid of your anger. Anger is too costly.

40 Cans for 40 Days Program St. Hubert's Council #10341 of the Knights of Columbus, working with Father Christopher, is conducting our 4th annual 40 Cans for 40 Days program to collect canned food items for the lo-cal food bank. Starting on Ash Wednesday, February 26th and continuing through Easter Sunday, April 12th, there will be baskets set up in the back of St. Mary and St. Ann Churches for your donations. Last year we collected 2,000 pounds of canned food items to go along with monetary donations. The Knights of Co-lumbus also donates $100 for every 1,000 pounds of food collected. In addition to canned goods, other items which are needed include boxed dinners, peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, dry pasta, boxes of Jello and pudding, box stuff-ing, and dry pancake mix. Please make sure that all items have expiration dates no earlier than 2021. Contact Randy Andring at 927-8114 with any questions or if you need assistance with getting your canned goods to the Church.

CONSCIENCE Labor to keep alive in your breast that little spark of celestial fire, called conscience. —George Washington

BAD COMPANY People who live solely for themselves are eventually corrupted by their own company.

Lenten Almsgiving Parish Boxes

During the Sacred Season of Lent, the faithful are en-

couraged to practice the three disciplines of prayer, fast-

ing, & almsgiving in order to grow in our love of God

and our neighbor. Through almsgiving, Lent becomes

an opportunity to make a greater effort to see Christ in

the poor, the suffering, and the stranger, in the least

among us.

This year Saint Mary/Saint Ann parish will use their

own Lenten Almsgiving Boxes. These purple boxes are

available at the back of both churches in order to be used

throughout the Lenten Season and replace the Rice

Bowls previously used in the past. All of the donations

will be distributed to the Marienville/North Clarion Food

Bank. Thank you in advance. May God bless you for

your kindness & generosity.
