BAPTISM - (English) The process for infant baptism and

children under 7 years old is as follows:

Parent(s) call the office to request an appointment. In that

appointment the whole process will be explained.

Godparents must be practicing Catholics, be over 16 years

of age, and have the sacraments of Initiation and live their

lives according to the teachings of Christ and His Church.

Godparents can be single. If the person has a partner, he/

she must be married by the Church. Free union or civil

marriage is not enough.

Proof of Confirmation and Marriage by the Church. The

godparents must bring their Confirmation, and Church

Marriage certificate (if they are married).

When all relevant documents are received the dates will be

given to attend the Baptismal Parent Class, the

Presentation in the Church, the class for parents and

godparents and the date of the baptism.

All teenagers – Grade 8 thru High School – are invited to join our youth group. We meet on Saturdays after 6:30 P.M. Mass until approximately to 9:30 P.M. We meet in the audio/visual room (second floor) in the former elementary school. Group meetings are in English and Spanish, so all are welcome!

RESPECT LIFE MONTH

Having children and raising a family

had always been our expectation. We

soon learned, however, that our chances

of becoming pregnant were small. It

wasn’t long before we started talking

about the possibility of adoption. I

wondered if my heart was big enough to love an

adopted child as I would have loved a biological child.

But with prayerful discernment, we decided to start the

process. On Christmas Eve, Bill* and I left the hospital

with Andrew. It didn’t take long before there was no

doubt in our minds that he was our son, the greatest gift

from God! We can’t imagine loving a child whom we

MES RESPETEMOS LA VIDA

Tener hijos y criar una familia siempre había sido

nuestra expectativa. Pronto nos enteramos, sin

PASTORAL COUNCIL

ESTABLISHMENT PROCESS

Dear Parishioners,

We are happy to announce to you that we are

ready to begin the process for the establishment of

a Pastoral Council at St. Mary’s. We want to

thank all the members of the Steering Committee

who helped us in the last months to prepare the

groundwork for this endeavor. A Pastoral Council

has the important mission to advise the pastor/

administrator in all issues related to the pastoral

life of the parish. It’s a consultative body of

people representative of the parish community.

Some members of the Pastoral Council are ex

officio: the pastor, the parochial vicar, a

representative of the deacons and a representative

of the staff. Fr. Israel will appoint three members.

Finally, parishioners will be able to choose 8 of

the candidates by voting. Two of the members

must be young people (between 9th grade and 18

years old). In total 15 members of the Pastoral

Council.

The timeframe and process will be as follows:

October 19/20 - Bulletin and pulpit

announcement about the Pastoral Council

establishment process. The nominating committee

looks for nominees during this period.

November 2/3 - Bulletin and Board

announcement regarding the Nominees for the

Pastoral Council

From November 3rd weekend to November 22nd

a) Time of prayer and discernment

b) Parishioners register to vote by writing their

names in a Registration list that will be available

at the end of Mass. Children cannot vote. Only

teenagers from 9th grade on, and adults,

Nov 23/24 - People who are registered are able to

vote. They will be able to choose 3 candidates

from the list of nominees.

December 1st weekend - Names of the Pastoral

Council members are made public

Dec 9th, 7:30 pm -1st meeting of the Pastoral
