PARISH ACTIVITIES
OFFERTORY: WEEKEND OF FEBRUARY 3-4, 2018
At Catholic Charities, we work to serve the marginalized and vulnerable in our commu-nity; to provide a hand up when our clients are doing their best for their families. Your participation in this past Ash Wednesday’s collection will help us continue to provide those services to our brothers and sisters in need throughout eastern Massachusetts. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your prayers and generosity. We look forward to sharing the success of our collec-tion with you in the coming months. To learn more about our work, please visit www.ccab.org.
Hopefully, you received an email this week with a link to the 2018 Catholic
Appeal video. If you have not seen this inspiring, brief video, a link is available
on the parish website or at www.bostoncatholicappeal.org.
Thank you in advance for your support.
THANK YOU!

Life Line Screening, a leading provider of community-based preventive health screen-ings, is pleased to offer a preventive health event at St Mary of the Assumption Church on 2/20/2018. Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong predictor of heart disease; atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density screening, for men and women, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis. Register for a Wellness Package which includes 4 vascular tests and osteoporosis screening from $149 ($139 with our mem-ber discount). All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete. There are three ways to register for this event and to receive a $10 discount off any package priced above $129, please call toll-free 1-888-653-6441 or visit http://lifelinescreening.com/communitycircle or text the word circle to 797979 .
LIFE LINE SCREENING - 2/20/2018
For the 9 weeks, Fr. Mark will lead a Novena to Saint Peregrine starting Wednes-
day, February 14th at 6:30pm. He will begin with Exposition of the Blessed Sacra-
ment and the Novena at 6:30, then adoration and confession until 7:30, ending
with Benediction. You are welcome to come for all or part of the evening.
St. Peregrine is the Patron Saint of Cancer Patients. He was known for his holiness
but also for a miraculous healing that he received.
He was scheduled to have his leg amputated because of a cancerous growth. The
night before the surgery, he prayed for healing, received a vision of Christ coming
down from the cross to touch his leg and was completely healed.
NOVENA TO SAINT PEREGRINE
One way Deacon Doyle responded to the call of our church was to simply ask those who could afford it to do-
nate $8.00 for blanket for someone who had none. He likely had no idea the im-pact that simple ask would have – on donors and on receivers - nor that it would continue well past his time here. As the temperature drops and frigid air and snow arrive many of us will turn up the heat and wrap ourselves in a blanket as we settle into our winter lives. But for too many, those are not options. Many here in our local community and beyond, children and adults are struggling to stay warm. Many go to be cold without even a blanket to keep them warm. Deacon Doyle saw their pain and resolved to do something about it. This month your simple contribution will go to My Brother’s Keeper to purchase blankets for those who have none. My Brother’s Keeper is a vibrant, welcoming Christian ministry with locations in Easton and Dartmouth, MA which deliv-ers furniture and food to families in need. Their mission is "To bring the Love and Hope of Jesus Christ to those we serve.” If you are warm today, if you have all you need for today, if you are grateful today, consider donating to the Deacon Doyle Memorial Blanket Drive. The warmth of your love and generosity will make the difference in someone’s life!
Checks can kindly be made out to “My Brother’s Keeper” & can be placed in the blanket box on the Social Justice table.
There will be NO Religious Ed classes held the week of February 19th-February 23rd due to
school vacation.

Because of several unforeseen conflicts, the Confirmation schedule was changed. The following is the new schedule: March 3: Year 2 March 17: Year 1 March 24: Both Year 1 & Year 2 And just a reminder that the 4:30 Mass on the above dates will in-clude our Life Teen music! All are encouraged to come!

Tennebrae Service will be held on March 25th @ 7PM. This service is a solemn re-enactment of the seven last words of Christ and his walk to Calvary. The students in our Year 2 program present this evening and if you have never come, you should plan on attending this. It is a wonderful, thoughtful way to enter Holy Week! (and a great way to support our high school students, too!)
The Hull Knights of Columbus is having a St Patrick's Day dinner dance with a Boiled Dinner, DJ, and cash bar.
Wear your green and have a good time! All are welcome!
When: Saturday evening March 17th
Time: 7:00pm - 11:30pm
Cost: $25/person

The students and parents of students going on the summer service trip would like to thank everyone who supported our annual Mardi Gras Bake Sale. We hope everyone enjoyed the goodies they purchased! You, the parishioners, are so generous of-
ten telling the students to “keep the change” or just giving a donation and not taking anything. We are blessed to have
the support of the parish each year! Your support raised $700 which will go a long way in helping to defray the costs of the
trip. A very heartfelt thank you to all!

Did you know that the anchor represents hope? During the time of Roman persecution of Christians, it was adopted as a Christian symbol because it forms a cross. It was found in the catacombs and in homes, serving as an encouragement to Christians without drawing the atten-tion of authorities. Since that time, the anchor cross is found in many churches and reminds us of hope and sta-bility in Christ. As you meditate on the cross this Lent, consider the anchor cross and use it as an inspiration for hope in stormy times.
