Dear Parents:
St. Mary School will hold its Eighth Annual Olympic Day on Friday, May 27 (rain date Tuesday, May 31).
Olympic Day is a cooperative effort of students, faculty, staff, and parents of St. Mary’s. This fun-filled
day is filled with many team events.
We are planning to bring the students together once a week to work on activities for the Olympic theme.
Each team will make various things (hats, beads, etc.) that represent their country. What they make will
be displayed during our parade the morning of Olympic Day.
The teams for Olympic Day will consist of students from grades K – 8 (approximately 20 students per
team). The faculty and staff (and some volunteer parents) will serve as the coordinators for the team.
They will lead the team on Olympic Day.
All events are held on the grounds of St. Mary School. The major goal of this day, in addition to having
fun, includes the promotion of cooperation and teamwork; therefore, all events are team events.
To make this day as successful as possible, WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS! Volunteers are
needed to serve as judges, timekeepers, scorekeepers, setting up and serving snacks and lunch. Please fill
out the bottom portion and return to school if you can volunteer.
As part of Olympic Day a school wide cookout is held. Irene & Carlos Villavicencio have been diligently
working on getting some of the food donated. The remaining cost will be taken care of by the PTG;
therefore, there will be no charge for the cookout. The children will have hotdogs, hamburgers, veggie
burgers, chips and lemonade for lunch. Snacks, water, and fruit are provided for the children throughout
the day. The day would not be complete without ice cream!
Through the generosity of the PTG, we will be purchasing and designing T-shirts for all students to wear
on Olympic Day. They will be sent home with washing instructions prior to Olympic day.
As always, we are grateful for your continued support and cooperation throughout the year.
Ms. Lepore
