Parish Food Collection Corpus Christi Diocesan Food

Collection “Therefore have no fear. I will provide for you and for your children.” Genesis 50:21 This collection will take place on June 22nd and 23rd we will be collecting soup (can or cup) (no mushroom). This collec-tion is sponsored by Catholic Charities. Everyone is encouraged to participate. This collection allows the pantries to have food for the summer months. The Pope as father of the Church

It is human that when faced with the challenge of being a father, many men can feel old and afraid. This is based on an awareness of the responsibility involved in being a father; hence, some people ask: Will I be ready? Will I be able to adequately fulfill my role? In such a situation, man will always find certainty and strength in prayer.

Peter and the popes who have succeeded him also appealed to prayer, to undertake and carry out his apostolic mission as father of the church. Pope Francis made this clear when, in his first appearance on the central balcony of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, he asked the faithful for his blessing and prayer.

With this gesture, the new Pope-like son- asked for the blessing of the Holy Mother Church, to whom-as father-custodian, will direct and shepherd. His action should serve as an example of hu-mility and remind us of the need to pray for the Pope, so that the Holy Spirit, who chose him, will guide him in the performance of his pastoral ministry.

As Pope Francis said, at the beginning mass of his pontificate, comparing his mission with that of Saint Joseph: "Guarding Jesus with Mary, guarding all creation, guarding all, especially the poorest, guarding ourselves. ; here is a service that the Bishop of Rome is called to perform, but to which we are all called, to make the star of hope shine. El Papa como padre de la Iglesia

Es humano que cuando se vean ante el reto de ser padre, muchos hombres pueden sentir antigüista y temor. Esto se basa en la conciencia de la responsabilidad que implica ser padre; de ahí que algu-nos se pregunten: ¿Estaré listo? ¿Podré cumplir adecuadamente mi rol? En tal situación, el hombre siempre encontrará certeza y fortaleza en la oración. Pedro y los papas que le han sucedido apelaron también a la oración, para emprender y llevar ade-lante su misión apostólica como padre de la iglesia. El papa Francisco puso esto de manifiesto cuan-do, en su primera aparición en el balcón central de la basílica de San Pedro en el Vaticano, pidió a los fieles su bendición y oración. Con este gesto, el nuevo Papa—como hijo— le pidió la bendición a l Santa Madre Iglesia, a la que—como padre—custodiara, dirigirá y apacentará. Su acción debe servirnos de ejemplo de humildad y recordarnos la necesidad de rezar por el Papa, para que el Espíritu Santo, que lo eligió, lo guíe en el desempeño de su ministerio pastoral. Como dijo el Papa Francisco, en la misa de inicio de su pontificado, al comparar su misión con la de San José: “Custodiar a Jesús con María, custodiar toda creación, custodiar a todos, especialmente a los más pobres, custodiarnos a nosotros mismos; he aquí un servicio que el Obispo de Roma está llamado a desempeñar, pero al que todos estamos llamados, para hacer brillar la estrella de la espe-ranza.”
