Show and Tell Twenty-Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

But who do you say that I am? - Mark 8:29 Let Your Life Speak by Parker J. Palmer was one of the most influential books of my vocational discernment. When I read it in my early twenties, I learned much about how to listen to my heart and hear God's voice of loving encouragement. This listening led me to joining a community of Franciscan Sisters. Now a vowed member, I continue to understand my life as a conversation with God, a journey of listening and responding, of show and tell. Truly, all of us are in a lifelong conversation with God. Each of us has an opportunity to listen to Christ's questions and respond. Will you follow me? Who do you say that I am? Are you willing to lose everything for my sake? When it comes to how we'll answer, God looks for our response instead of our words. When it comes to loving God and neighbor, the adage, "actions speak louder than words," applies. St. Mary’s News

Holy Family News

Our study time is each Sunday after Mass and Wednesdays at 10:30 am. We are going to look at church history through a program called Epic by Steve Weidenkopf. Learn about the major people, places and events of the two thousand years of church history. Learn the true story of the crusades. Discover the characters of the Protestant Reformation. Understand the rationale of the medieval inquisitors and the Spanish Inquisition. Discover the various time of persecutions in the church. Learn how the Holy Spirit worked in the church throughout its history. There is a workbook called Epic A Journey Through Church History that you might want to take some notes. It can be obtained through Ascension Press.

FOOD PANTRY REMINDER First, a very special thank you to all who were able to contribute to last months food drive. St. Mary’s contributed 1000 pounds of food items to the Food Pantry. What a terrific way to begin this giving project. We will be collecting again on Saturday September 15th & Sunday September 16th.

"But Jesus said to them: Suffer the little children, and forbid

them not to come to me: for the kingdom of heaven is for such.

And when he had imposed hands upon them, he departed from

thence."

"At that hour the disciples came to Jesus, saying: Who thinkest

thou is the greater in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus calling

unto him a little child, set him in the midst of them, And said:

Amen I say to you, unless you be converted, and become as little

children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whoso-

ever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, he is the

greater in the kingdom of heaven. And he that shall receive one

such little child in my name, receiveth me."

(Matthew 19:14-15; 18:1-5, Douay-Rheims)
