Cyber Safety
Today at school in year 6, two police officers came and talked about being safe online and forms of cyberbullying. On a slideshow, they showed us different sites to contact with friends or people we know. They also showed us people to talk to if you are cyberbullied.
They said that you should never give your personal details to strangers or even your friends or they might hack on your account if they knew the password.
By Melody, Year 6.
The Holy
Year of
God’s Mercy
The Holy Father Pope Francis opened the Holy
Door into St Peter’s on Tuesday, Y6 watched the
coverage in the hope that they will be able to go
through that same door when they are in Rome in
June.
The Holy Year is being launched in Westminster
this weekend and we will have our own Holy Door
in school in the New Year. We’ll be focussing on
mercy, compassion and forgiveness in 2016.
You will find a copy of the Pope’s prayer for the
year further down the newsletter. Please make
good use of it remembering to pray for the Pope
and for all of us at St Mary’s too.
Join us at 1pm in the Nursery on
18th December 2015 for non-alcoholic mulled wine &
mince pies (organised by PTA), followed by singing carols with
children around the crib.
The children’s Christmas lunch
is on Wednesday 16th. All
infants will get the lunch for
free but you still need to
make the choice between
Turkey or Bean Crumble on
ParentPay. All Junior children
need to make the same
choice and pay £2:10 too.
Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told
us that whoever sees you sees Him.
Show us your face and we will be saved. Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from being enslaved by money; the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things; made Peter weep after his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief.
Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman: “If you knew the gift of God!”
You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy:let the Church be your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and glorified.
You willed that your ministers would also be clothed in weakness in order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel sought after, loved, and forgiven by God.
Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind.
We ask this of you, Lord Jesus, through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy; you who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever.
Amen.

Parking
Most of you will have seen Mr Pipola, Mr Gray or
me outside of school at the start and end of the day.
Thank you to all of you for your positive comments
which make standing in the rain wagging fingers at
people so much easier. It’s reassuring to hear that
our presence is making a difference. Of course it’s
not really the role of school staff to direct adults in
how they should be parking but when the children’s
safety is put at risk we need to act. It’s also
important to remember the reputation of the school
in the local community and I’ve been heartened to
receive positive comments from members of the
public who are so pleased that they can now walk
safely past the school.
We will continue to monitor the parking into the new
year. If there are spaces in the car park then we will
direct you to them. If the car park is full we will tell
you and ask you to find somewhere else to park.
We will ask you not to park in the Wisdom Court
reserved spaces or to stop in the middle of the car
park - even if you are only dropping off.
Some parents have expressed an interest in helping
with the monitoring. If you are interested and could
spare 20 mins can you please speak to Mr Pipola in
the school office. We can look to draw up a rota.
Please
remember that
we do not
allow dogs into
school. Please
don’t bring
any dogs onto
the school
grounds.

Join us for festive fun for our last Family Explorers until the new year! These relaxed sessions use arts and crafts activities, songs, stories, drama, and imaginative play to allow adults and children to have fun exploring a different theme. Family Explorers takes place every Thursday during term time.
Come and see this year’s exhibition by Octagon and Transitions artists. Exploring themes such as the environment and ‘cabinets of curiousity’, this years creations range from powerful paintings to playful puppets. Octagon Club and Transitions Art Group are for young people and adults with additional needs.
Within the big houses of Jacobian England there was a major divide between
the household and the household staff. Taking inspiration from the people who lived, visited and worked at Ham House, young people have created a sculptural installation bringing these formidable and forgotten characters back to life.
