We will review the upcoming Readings for the week and enjoy coffee, juice and snacks while enjoying the word of our Lord!

Our annual Festival Launch Party is on Saturday, August 24, 2019. We will be having a silent and live Auction . We are looking for gift cards for the live auction item– if you have any to donate (any store or restaurant) we would be very grateful. We need Booth Sponsors. For our Annual Fall Festival (Sunday, October 6th)The list of needs for each booth is listed in the back of the church. Please sign up if you are able to sponsor a booth (or partial booth). Drop your donation in the collection basket (marked as festival booth sponsor) or at the parish office. Any donation is gratefully appreciated-all spon-sors will be acknowledged in the bulletin.

The Food Pantry at St. Matthews gets most of our food from the Hou-ston Food Bank. However, they do not have certain food items, that are much needed. If you can help our Food Pantry with donations of macaro-ni and cheese, canned fruit, cereal and barsoap/bodywash our community would be so grateful. Please bring your donations to the back of the church, parish office or social concerns office. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

The San Jose Clinic will expand to Fort Bend County to serve the health care needs of the underserved. The Clinic will open in early September on the grounds of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church located at 1600 Avenue D, in Rosenberg. Due to the ex-pansion, the Clinic is in need of skilled professionals. We

are seeking retired physicians, practicing physicians and other healthcare providers that have the time and compassions to volunteer their services. Thank you to all the 183 families from our parish that have committed to our Capital Campaign we have not just reached our goal, we have exceeded it! As of Tuesday, July 9th we have a total pledge of $487,502. From this amount our parish will receive in return $160,875.66 to use towards renovations and upgrades. Faith Formation Work Days--Please join us on Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Faith Formation workroom to help organize the beginning of the 2019/2020 year. We need help setting up class-rooms, copying Lesson Plans and Handout Activities, copying class and attendance lists, etc.. We need many "Hands in Action" in order to make this Faith Formation year a success!

La Clínica San José se expandirá al Condado de Fort Bend para atender las necesidades de atención médica de los desatendidos. La clínica abrirá a principios de septiembre en los terrenos de la Iglesia Católica Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe ubicada en 1600 Avenue D, en Rosenberg. Debido a la expansión, la clínica necesita profesionales califica-dos. Estamos buscando médicos retirados, médicos en ejercicio y otros proveedores de atención médica que tengan el tiempo y la compasión para ofrecer sus servicios como voluntarios. Celebración de Misa de 25 aniversario de bodas

Las Misa de Celebración de Aniversario en honor a las parejas que celebran sus bodas de plata (25th) y que contrajeron matrimonio por la Iglesia Católica

llevará a cabo el día domingo 22 de septiembre en la Co-Catedral del Sagrado Corazón a las 3:00 de la tarde. Todas las parejas inscritas y que asistan, o no, a la ceremonia, recibirán un reconocimiento especial firmado por su Eminencia Daniel Cardenal DiNardo. Las inscripciones para esta celebra-ción se cerrarán el 26 de agosto a la media noche. Los lugares reservados en la iglesia son limitados y si no hay inscripción,

no podremos garantizar espacio. Las parejas participantes, podrán asistir con, máximo, 6 familiares o amigos.

17th Sunday in Ordinary Time: July 28 That we may learn to see the difference between the things we need and the things we want. “Ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Luke 11:9 Jesus assures us that if we ask, God will take care of what we need. The problem is that our culture often confuses what we really need with what we simply want. Many people need very little. However, we usu-ally want so much more. A good steward only asks God for what he needs. __________________________ 17º domingo del Tiempo Ordinario: 28 de julio Para que po-damos aprender a ver la diferencia entre las cosas que nece-sitamos y las que queremos. “Pide y recibirás, busca y encontra-rás, llama y la puerta se te abrirá.” Lucas 11: 9 Jesús nos asegura que si pedimos, Dios cuidará de lo que necesitamos. El problema es que nuestra cultura a menudo confunde lo que realmente nece-sitamos con lo que simplemente queremos. Muchas personas necesitan muy poco. Sin embargo, solemos querer mucho más. 25th Wedding Anniversary Jubilee Mass The 2019 Wedding Anniversary Jubilee Mass honoring couples celebrating their Silver (25th) Anniversary of mar-riage in the Catholic Church will be held on Sunday, Sep-

tember 22, 2019 at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart at 3pm. Wheth-er or not a couple attends the ceremony, they are eligible to receive a special recognition. Registration will close on August 26, 2019 at midnight. Reserved seating will be limited. Each couple will be able to bring a maximum of 6 family members or friends to the Mass. Couples that register after August 26th will not receive a prepared WAJ packet, or a signed recognition on the day of the Mass.
