Annual Mass of Remembrance
This weekend we are celebrating our annual Mass of
Remembrance at the 10 AM Eucharist. In a special way
we welcome to this celebration those who have
experienced the death of a loved one during the year.
Please know that you are always in the prayers of our
parish community, especially as you move through the
initial months of grief and loss. After the 10 AM Mass all
are invited to gather in the parish hall for light
refreshments. Many thanks to parishioners Regina and
Alan Slattery who have funded this collation once again
this year.
Pictures of the deceased adorn our Parish Book of
Remembrance, found in the alcove at the back of the
church. Please stop by to pray at this beautiful display and
enter your deceased loved ones names into our November
Book of Remembrance.
As you know, Deacon Doug Peltak is instrumental in
walking with our grieving parishioners during their time of
loss and in organizing our Mass of Remembrance. On
behalf of the parish I would like to thank Doug for his
ministry to the bereaved and for his pastoral presence in
our parish which means so much to us all.
Parish Finances
Last weekend parish Finance Commission member Joe
Kushi gave a brief summary of our financial status. I’d
like to thank Joe and to reiterate that your continued
contributions of time, talent, and treasure are greatly
appreciated, and greatly needed.
You may remember that Joe mentioned the decrease in
our regular weekly giving. We have rarely hit our weekly
4 thousand dollar goal during the fiscal year which began
on July 1st. A sustained level of weekly giving is crucial to
our fiscal health.
I would like to invite each parishioner to reflect upon
their level of giving and, if feasible, please consider
increasing your weekly donation. As much as I don’t like
talking about money, and as much as you probably don’t
like hearing about it, I can’t stress enough that everything
we do as a parish is funded by the weekly generosity of
parishioners. Faith Formation, parish outreach, parish
salaries – you name it – are dependent upon your
donations.
A great way to give on a consistent basis is to use our
on-line giving program where you can set a recurring
amount and never have to worry about writing out a check
or digging through your wallet at Mass. This also affords
you a great way to budget your giving for the year. Please
visit our website: stmattpar.org for all the information you
will need to set up an account.
And please don’t forget about our 2018 Grand Annual
Collection which is ongoing until the end of the year!
Informational packets are available at the entrances to the
church and you may donate on line as well.

turn to those in need on this day of thanks and we invite you

NOVEMBER
BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE
Each November we honor the
memory of our deceased family
members, friends and parishioners
with our Book of Remembrance.
You are invited to inscribe the names
of your deceased loved ones in this
book throughout the month of No-
vember.
The Book of Remembrance is located in the church foyer
along with a photo board. Parishioners are invited to place a
photo of their deceased loved one on the photo board. Please
make sure that you write your name and phone number on the
back of the photo so that it may be returned to you.
You may also find specially marked November All Souls
envelopes at the church entrances. If you would like to make a
donation in memory of deceased loved ones please be sure to
put your name on the front of the envelope and the names of
those you wish to remember on the back. The names of all
those memorialized will be published in the parish bulletin in
early December.
