1. Blessing of Homes - Fr. Mikhail will be blessing homes this week. Please notify him on the attached form giving your address, telephone and the days that are not convenient for you.

2. Parish Membership - We welcome all our visitors and guests who worship at St. Nicholas. We invite families and individuals who wish to become members to register with us by calling the Church Office at 273-6752, or speaking with Fr. Mikhail after the Church service.

3. Please Pray - for the soul of + John Haytko who has fallen asleep in the Lord this past week. May our Lord God place his soul where all the just ones repose.

4. Mittens - Winter is here and many people are feeling the cold. To help them through the season, we are asking for donations of handmade (or purchased) hats, scarves, gloves, and mittens. These will be given to the Watervliet-Green Island Food Pantry and distributed to those who need them most. Please place your donations in the box marked MITTENS in the back of the church. We will continue to collect cold weather items throughout January and February.

5. Meetings: Pastoral Council – will have their meeting on Wed., February 7th at 6pm.

6. Patronize our Advertisers - on the back of our weekly bulletin are the names of those who advertise with us. We ask that you please patronize these generous people. We wish that God may grant them many successful years in their profession.

7. Food for the Poor - The Watervliet-Green Island Food Pantry is preparing for the Holidays. Donations of canned and boxed foods are needed. God has blessed us with many gifts, let us share our blessings with others and, in this way, we give thanks to God for all He gives to us.

Banns of Marriage- Solomia Myshchuk of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Watervliet, NY, daughter of Taras & Lesia Myshchuk and Jeremy Pullen of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Stuyvesant Falls, NY, son of Michael and Michelle Elizabeth Pullen desire to receive the Mystery of Holy Crowning at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Watervliet, NY on February 3

9. Traditional Christmas Program - All parishioners are invited to attend a special Ukrainian Christmas Nativity Play by the children of the Saturday School of Ukrainian Studies and Religious Ed. Program on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 10:30 between Liturgies. Please come and enjoy our festive and beautiful Ukrainian traditions.

10. Malanka/Ukrainian New Years Dinner & Dance - is Jan 20, 2018 at 6pm at the Holiday Inn Express in Latham, NY. Don't miss the fun this year! Regular price $70/Adult and $30/Children 12 and under. 14. Snow Day – In case of extremely hazardous snowy or icy conditions on Sundays there will be only one Divine Liturgy at 11:00 am.

15. New Council Members - Interested in serving on our Pastoral or Stewardship Council? Or would you like to recommend another parishioner who would be a valuable addition to either Council? Nominations are being accepted for vacancies on both Councils. Nominees must be at least 18 years old and a member in good standing with the Church. Nominations are to be submitted to the church office in written form by February 4th. Please consider Diocesan Guidelines in making your decisions. For further information about the Councils or to submit nominations please see Father Mikhail, Zoriana Mangione or Nicholas Fil.

16. BAPTISMS - Holy Mysteries (Sacraments) of Initiation are normally administered on the Sunday nearest to the 40th day after the birth of the child. Father or Deacon will conduct a special baptismal preparation session. This session is for all expectant parents, the Godparents and possibly grand-parents. Parents must be registered and active members of the parish. It is normal that a saint’s name be chosen for the child. ELIGIBILITY FOR GODPARENT - One sponsor must be a practicing Catholic, attend Liturgy regularly, receive the Sacraments and fulfill all obligations and financial support to their parish, attested to by their pastor.

Epistle 1 Timothy 4:9-15: Timothy, my son, the saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance. For to this end we

toil and struggle, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Saviour of all people, especially of those who believe. These are the things you must insist on and teach. Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. Until I arrive, give attention to the public reading of scripture, to exhorting, to teaching. Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you through prophecy with the laying on of hands by the council of elders. Gospel: (Luke 19:1-10): Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through it. A man was there named Zacchaeus;

he was a chief tax collector and was rich. He was trying to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was short in stature. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see him, because he was going to pass that way. When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down; for I must stay at your house today.” So he hurried down and was happy to welcome him. All who saw it began to grumble and said, “He has gone to be the guest of one who is a sinner.” Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor; and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much.” Then Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek out and to save the lost.”

Instead of “It is truly...”: O my soul, magnify Christ the King, baptized in the Jordan. Irmos (Tone 2): Every

tongue is at a loss to praise you as is your due, O Mother of God. Even a spirit from above is filled with dizziness when seeking to sing your praises. But since you are good, accept out faith, for you know well our love inspired by God. For it is you who protect all Christians; therefore, we magnify you.

Communion Verse: The Grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all (Ti 2:11). According to Galician usage: All creation is filled with rejoicing today, for Christ is baptized in the Jordan. Instead of “We have seen the true light…” “May our mouths be filled…” & “Blessed be the Name of the Lord…”

Стих:Тяжко покарав мене Господь, та не поередав мене смерті (Пс 117,18). Прокімен(глас 4): Благословен, хто йде в ім’я Господнє,* Бог Господь і явився нам (Пс 117,26).

Апостол: (1Тм 4,9-15): Сину Тимотею, вірне це слово й повного довір’я гідне. На це бо й трудимося

та боремося, тому що ми поклали нашу надію на живого Бога, який є Спасителем усіх людей, особливо ж вірних. Це наказуй і навчай. Ніхто твоїм молодим віком хай не гордує, але будь зразком для вірних у слові, поведінці, любові, вірі й чистоті. Заки я прийду, віддавайся читанню, умовлянню та навчанню. Не занедбуй у собі дару, що був даний тобі через пророцтво з накладанням рук збору пресвітерів. Про це міркуй, будь увесь у цьому, щоб поступ твій усім був очевидний.

Алилуя : Добре воно - прославляти Господа, і співати Твоєму імені, Всевишній (Пс 91,2).

Стих:Звіщати вранці Твою милість, ночами - Твою вірність (Пс 91,3).

Євангеліє: (Лк 19,1-10): У той час, увійшовши в Єрихон, Ісус проходив через (місто). А був там

чоловік, Закхей на ім’я; він був головою над митарями й був багатий. Він бажав бачити Ісуса, хто він такий, але не міг із-за народу, бо був малого зросту. Побіг він наперед, виліз на сикомор, щоб подивитися на нього, бо Ісус мав проходити тудою. Прийшовши на те місце, Ісус глянув угору і сказав до нього: “Закхею, притьмом злізай, бо я сьогодні маю бути в твоїм домі.” І зліз той швидко і прийняв його радо. Всі, бачивши те, заходилися нарікати та й казали: “До чоловіка грішника зайшов у гостину.” А Закхей устав і до Господа промовив: “Господи, ось половину майна свого даю вбогим, а коли чимсь когось і покривдив, поверну вчетверо.” Ісус сказав до нього: “Сьогодні на цей дім зійшло спасіння, бо й він син Авраама. Син бо Чоловічий прийшов шукати і спасти те, що загинуло.”

Замість Достойно: Величай, душе моя, Царя Христа, що хрестився в Йордані. Ірмос (глас 2): Не зуміє ніякий язик достойно благохвалити, тривожиться й ум, і то надсвітній, коли оспівує тебе, Богородице; одначе ти, благая, прийми віру, бо любов нашу божественну знаєш, бо ти є християн заступниця, тебе величаємо.

Причасний: Явилася благодать Божа спасительна всім людям (Тит 2,11). Алилуя (х3).

За Галицьким звичаєм співаємо: Нині все наповнилося радістю, Христос хрестився в Йордані. Замість “Ми бачили світло істинне…” (x1) “Нехай сповняться уста” (x3) і “Нехайбуде ім’я…” (x3).
