Dear Carleton alumni & friends:

The timeless pageant that is Russia reveals itself in the scenic rivers, lakes and canals thatlink St. Petersburg with Moscow. Between these two great cultural capitals lies a countrysideseemingly untouched by the 20th century. Golden-domed churches rise out of the early morningmist, quaint wooden villages and old-world farms dot the verdant landscape and the gentlelight of early autumn evenings gives an otherworldly dimension to the banks of Russia’s great“blue road” of inland waterways.

Join us aboard the exclusively chartered, deluxe M.S. VOLGA DREAM, the premier ship cruisingRussia’s waterways. Spend two nights aboard ship in St. Petersburg, Russia’s “window on the West,”the majestic legacy of that most visionary of czars, Peter the Great. From St. Petersburg, cruise for sixnights through the heartland of Mother Russia, where everyday life goes on at the measured pace ithas kept for generations. Here, villagers still dwell in traditional wooden cottages and preserve thefolkways of their ancestors, and onion-domed churches and fortified monasteries testify to the abidingfaith of the Russian people. Our program concludes with one night aboard ship in the fabled city ofMoscow, the political and commercial capital of the world’s largest country and the cultural frontierbetween East and West. This program also features a two-night Post-Cruise Option in Moscow.

This unique and always popular program features a thoughtfully crafted itinerary and will appealnot only to the first-time traveller to Russia, but also to the return visitor curious to see the astoundingchanges that have taken place in Russia’s two largest and most important cities. Space is limited, andwe encourage you to reserve today; Early Booking savings are available only until March 3, 2011.

Sincerely,

Jane Gilbert, BJ/80PresidentCarleton University Alumni Association
