Don Antonio's Dispatch…

Happy Pentecost! I’m sorry I can’t be here with you as we celebrate the sending of the Holy Spirit and the birthday of the Church, but know of my prayers for you as I travel with my fellow pilgrims to the sites of Jesus’ life, Death, and Resurrection. I will (God-willing) be back for Mass Friday, 25 May. Thanks for your continued prayers! While I’m gone, the dilapidated (great vocab word!) house on Hogarth next to our Parish Center should be torn down. I have been neglectful in making public that, with the approval of our Finance Council, we bought the property for $4,500.00 in February from the owners. The reason for purchasing such a house was to keep it from being used for drugs, squatters, or other not-so-good activities. The Diocese of Lansing agreed to pay for its demolition, since we could not really afford to pay for it ourselves (keep that in mind, as part of how our DSA dollars help our parish!). After demolition, we will fill it in and level the ground, but then there are options to use it for our school, perhaps as a garden, or in another way to beautify our area. I apologize for not telling you earlier; once Lent really got going, things got very busy, and then after Easter it slipped my mind. But with its demolition happening (hopefully this week), I wanted to let you know. I also apologize that I am not here for our parish graduation celebration for high school students. I am so proud of each of our graduates from high school, and look forward to hearing great things about you as you move into college, trade school, the military, or the work force! We each have gifts and talents that God has entrusted to us to help us become saints and to build up society! I pray that you will continue to practice your faith after high school, and keep an open heart for the voice of the Holy Spirit to guide you in your daily and career choices.

From the Desk of Kasey Cronin…..

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Psalm 32:8

To state that educating our youth has an impact on the future is indeed an understatement. Forming the minds and hearts of our children has a lasting impact on their humanly lives, their eternal lives, our society, and our Catholic community. We are grateful to have teachers and staff members who teach as Christ taught and share His love on a daily basis. Although the addition of the responsibility of being Interim Principals has lengthened our days and workload, we are grateful to witness the warmth, love, and caring culture at St. Pius X Catholic School. Playing a small role in the lives of your children has been a blessing. Please join us in showing our utmost appreciation to the teachers and staff for their devotion to the education of our most precious children. Keep them in your prayers and be sure to let them know how much they are appreciated. St. Pius X, pray for us. God bless,

Kasey V. Cronin Brian Sheeran
