Deacon’s Corner

Welcome to St. Patrick’s Church! Prayer of Hospitality

Lord Jesus, you welcomed all who came into your presence. May we reflect that same spirit through the gift of hospitality. As we greet people today, may they hear your

voice in our words; as we meet them, may we recognize your presence within them; and as we create a place for one another at the Eucharistic table, may we discover the joy of serving you in others. Amen

Hope is for you and me!

I try not to be shocked by the things I see these days. But I was caught by surprise by the message on a T-shirt I saw. In bold letters it said, “Hope is for Suck-ers.” I know being naïve or gullible can be foolish and dangerous. Being disappoint-

ed and experiencing heartache can be a trigger for this way of thinking. But not al-lowing ourselves to have hope is a sad and cynical way to view life. Christian hope is truly unique because it’s having confidence in God, trust-

ing that what He is doing in our world and in our lives will lead us to a better place. That’s something everyone needs. Having hope is not foolish, because it gives us a strong foundation.

We hold on to the hope we have received in Christ because God is faithful. He can be trusted with anything and everything we will face each day. Our hope that

has its foundation in God will not crumble under the pressures of life. So, the T-shirt had it wrong. Hope is not for suckers; it’s for you and me!

Together through prayer and service, Deacon Mike

Teresian Novena

All Months Every Sunday: Hispanic Mass, 2pm @ SMM

Every Weekday: Communion Service @ 7:15am JULY 7 - Catholic Adult Fellowship @ 7 pm

intolerance or allergy. If you have need of these hosts, please tell the pastor before Mass.

CALENDAR & CHURCH NEWS

The Carmelite Sisters of Terre Haute, through Mother Anne, have invited us, the parishioners of St. Patrick Parish, to join them for the annual Teresian

Novena, July 8-16. I have chosen the evening of Friday, July 10, as our “St. Patrick Parish Night” of the novena. In doing so, I have made a commitment for us (how generous of me to commit our time!) to be sure there is a large

attendance. But additionally, this is a way for the Sisters to thank our parish for our ongoing support of their ministry of prayer. We are welcome to attend any of the 9 nights of the novena, but I ask that you make a special effort to

join with me in attending Friday, July 10!

Guidebook 2016

We are in the process of updating the family information for our 2016 Parish Guide Book and Directory. Is your family information correct? Have you changed your phone number

insthe last year or so? Have you dropped your land lines and only use cell phones? Have you moved? Are you preparing to move soon? Are all of your children still at home and are they

included in your membership record? St. Patrick’s has again contracted with Guide Book

Publishing to prepare the annual Guide Book Directory that is no cost to the parish and we want to make sure we have all of YOUR family information correct. If you have not recently

informed the parish office about any changes to your record, please let us know now so that

the information in the Guide Book & Directory is correct. You may contact Malia Mohan at the parish office by phone at 812-232-8518 or [email protected].

Thank you! St. Patrick Stewardship Committee

Second Collection

Thank you for your generous support of our Holy Father’s charitable work in the Peter’s Pence Collection. Your contributions will be combined with those of our broth-

ers and sisters around the world to help Pope Francis provide essential relief to people in need. Your generosity is an act of solidarity with the uni-

versal Church, answering the call to be a witness of charity.

May God bless you.

Adoration Chapel SAFETY TIPS II Corinthians 8:14

“At the present time your plenty will supply what they

need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality.”

The Soup Kitchen gives us a distinct opportunity to see

people who are often seen as having little to give. And yet as we provide food for them to meet their needs, we are

blest with the opportunity to watch the strength and faith

that these friends show us daily. Their hope as they strug-gle with differing challenges in their lives can be an inspi-

ration to all of us. The careful way those who are more able try to watch those who are weaker can be very

moving to see.

Please pray for our friends at the Soup Kitchen– for their health, their well-being, and that our example will be an

encouragement and hope for them as well.

HOSPITAL VISITATION

WHEN BEING ADMITTED to the hospital, Catholic patients need to inform the admitting staff of their religious affiliation and if a visit from the parish is desired. Due to federal regulations, if pa-tients do not inform the admitting staff, the church will not know of their hospital stay.

Patients can always call the church directly if a visit is desired or sacrament of the sick is need-ed. Religious affiliation infor-mation is not normally obtained from patients who enter the hospi-tal through the emergency room.

Always feel free to call us if you are in the hospital or are planning a hospital stay.
