New Year, Fresh Start It is easy for us to remember the problems we have had in the past. We are all human, and forgiveness can be a dif-ficult task to master. This year we are working hard to remind students that this is a new year and a fresh start. Give each other a blank slate and always be kind! We will be rolling out a new system to en-courage all of our stu-dents to be kind. Stu-dents can earn a “Shamrock,” which is a ticket they will earn when they have been “caught being kind.” Students can earn anything from a
pencil to a treasure chest prize, or even save enough to have lunch with the princi-pal! For those of you who missed the meet-ing, the Home and School meeting min-utes can be found here: http://bit.ly/homeschool

Grandparents’ Day
Grandparents’ Day is on October 18th, begin-ning with 9:00 a.m. Mass. We will have a program as well as activities for grand-parents to enjoy with our students. The school day comes to an end with a 1:00 dismissal. All stu-dents must be picked up by 1:00. There will be no extended care in the after-noon. Please turn in your Grandparent Club Forms
A Note from Father John Francis of Assisi, our secon-dary patron of our diocese. Look for details on the Deanery pilgrimage Oct. 21. There is an appre-ciation event at St. Vincent de Paul on Oct. 26. The Holy day of All Saints is Nov. 1. Hunter’s Night Out is Nov. 2. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Fall is such a wonderful time of the year. The weather is all over the place and so are we; there is so much going on. Please check out our calendar marking down all the school events that you can be a part of. Remember that Oct. 4th is the feast of St.

Keep in mind that Oc-tober is the month of the ro-sary. There are many ways to incorporate it into your day or ways to more deeply meditate on the mysteries
and life of Jesus.
Third grade learned about rural, urban, and subur-ban communities and created some of their own. We also discussed zebra stripes and that flies do not bite zebras be-cause of their stripes. The stu-dents then researched their own animals and gave presen-
Get ready for an AMAZ-ING book fair this year! From Monday, November 11th through Friday November 15th the Scholastic BookFair will be in our gym. Come check out some amazing books for your children!
The book fair will be open during your student’s lunch and recess time as well as their library time. During all hours of parent teacher confer-ences you can come in to shop as well. Something new
this year is “E-Wallet,” a safe, secure way to apply funds to an account for your child to pur-chase books with. Simply add in your payment info and print
the stub for your child to bring to school. Any monies that are not spent go back to the ac-count you paid with. Visit http://www.scholastic.com/bookfairs/ewallet-parents for more information.
Credit cards, cash and checks will also be accepted at the book fair. Parents, grand-parents, and other family mem-bers are encouraged to come in and browse the fair.

Fourth grade just finished our science lab where we used food coloring and carnations to learn about how vascular plants carry water to different parts of the plant. One of our favorite Eng-lish activities was “Active Verb Charades” in the gym.
The sixth grade created iMovies depicting the creation story from Genesis. They also used Powtoon to create a cartoon about using their conscience. In social studies, they learned about Ham-murabi’s code and how it is based on “an eye for an eye”. In art, the sixth graders have made some very beautiful oil pastel ¼ sunflowers.

Students are getting used to the new technology in the computer lab. They have been working hard on learning the differences between the new Mac Desktops to the Windows Desktops we had before. In the elementary grades, students have identified the parts of the computer and what they are used for. They

I would like to thank the Fall Festival Committee for another successful and great year! Without the hard work of Molly Scully - children’s games, Paul Schaller and Kim Walsh - silent auction, Kerry Randall - country store, Carol Gross - quilt raffle, Brian Fox - co-chairperson, Erin Lund - dinners, Donna Ravenscroft and Marion Koca - cake walk, Dan May and Nicole Clark - sidewalk
cafe, Ann Marie Vinopal - bingo, Jane Powers - parades, Jeri Kolba - tickets and Jennifer
Laursen - all the little odds and ends that go unnoticed, it would not have come together.
Thank you to all those who volunteered to help out in any way possible, baking, setting up, tear-ing down or working a shift during the day its truly appreciated. THANK YOU all again so
much!
