PARISH DISCERNMENT FOR THE DIOCESE OF ST. CATHARINES: These discernment gatherings have been going on for the past 2 1/2 years in the Hamilton and London Diocese and St. Catharines Diocese for the past six months. It is now time for Haldimand Deanery to go through the process. Four to six parishioners from each parish were asked to be a part of this process. Given the requirements from the diocese Fr Vijay personally approached some parishioners who volunteered to commit to this process. On Wed, April 18th we had our first gathering on this

discernment process. Based on this meeting we are asked to host several gatherings with as many parishioners as possible to discuss and share our faith journey, personal experiences within parish life. We are asking the parishioners to come to one of our planned meetings to participate. You will be given a questionnaire with points to consider on your faith. Please try and make one of the following dates: Saturday, May 5th 10am to 11am or Tuesday May 8th at 7:00pm—8:00pm. It is our hope that as many parishioners as possible will attend. These personal faith sharings will be summarized and be presented at the next Discernment meeting of our Deanery, May 12. The ACTS Retreats which focuses on Adoration, Community, Theology and Service are being held on the following dates: Women’s Retreats-April 26 – April 29, 2018 and November 15 – November 18, 2018; and the Men’s Retreats- May 24 – May 27, 2018 and November 29 – December 2, 2018. For more information: www.actscanada.org.

Your Parish needs Your Help The Parish is in need of a few more volunteers to help clean the church. If you are able to volunteer one to two hours every 5-6 weeks we need your help. A dedicated group of parishioners have been doing a fantastic job keeping our church clean for the past few years and now we are in need of a few more to join this great team. If you are able to give some of your time, please contact Donna Corbett, 905-765-5712 or the parish office. Thank you. On April 28th following 5pm mass and on April 29th

following both the 8:30 & 10:30 masses, the

students of the Grade 8 class at Notre Dame

School would like to sell milk chocolate flower

suckers to the parishioners. The sale of the

chocolate suckers will help to raise additional

funds for the planning of the Grade 8 graduation

party/dance to take place on June 20th following

the school graduation ceremony.

The Laudato Si Dialogues group continues to meet

Tuesdays, 1 to 3:30, until June 12th. We enjoy

fellowship and discussion around Pope Francis' call to

care for creation and our global neighbours. The

following are the dates for future meetings-May 1 - St.

Patrick's Rectory 1 - 3:30, May 15 - Regina Mundi

Meeting Room 1 - 3:30, May 29 6296 Blackheath

Road, Binbrook 1 - 3:30. Please RSVP Agnes Richard

Sunday, April 22, 3:00pm HOLY HOUR to PRAY for VOCATIONS, Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria. Sunday, April 22 is known as Good Shepherd Sunday. It is also the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. We will gather, under the leadership of Bishop Bergie, from all over the diocese, to pray for

vocations to the priesthood, especially from and for our diocese and for vocations to the diaconate. And we shall intercede for vocations to the religious life. May the Lord touch the hearts of many young men and women to consecrate themselves completely and exclusively to Christ and the service of His holy people. May the Lord bless all married and single persons in their vocations.

A small medal was accidentally placed in the SSVP Poor box two weeks ago at the Saturday evening Mass. We would like to give it back to its rightful owner. If you have lost a beautiful medal please contact Laurie Burley at 905-765-6619.

Message

My brothers and sisters, the Fourth Sunday of Easter is

called Good Shepherd Sunday. It is because our

gospel talks about Jesus as the Good Shepherd.

Who are the shepherds?

In the political order; the president, governors, mayors, barangay captains, cabinet members, department heads, etc. are shepherds.

In the family and educational order; the parents, guardians, professors, class instructors, teachers, supervisors, etc. are shepherds. In the ecclesiastical order; the bishops, parish priests, chaplains, directors and etc. are the shepherds in their own capacity. In short, this Sunday is for anyone who is the head or leader of any group or undertaking.

Good shepherds who lay down their lives are husbands

and wives who show their devotion to each other;

teachers who spent untold hours instructing weak

students; doctors and nurses who work untiringly to

show they care for their patients.

Rightly, then, that this Sunday is also the World Day of Prayer for Vocations. I invite you, dear parents and young people, to pray for more vocations to the priesthood and religious life. We may not be the ones called by God to this kind of vocation, but as Christians, we have the obligation to campaign for more vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
