St.Patrick’s Day

St.Patrick's day is celebrated on March 17 to commemorate the death of St.Patrick. St. Patrick's Day is probably the most holy day of a widely celebrated in the world.

St.Patrick's Day is celebrated around the world by all the Irish and sometimes by people who have Irish origins.

Legend of St.Patrick

He was born in Wales around 370 AD. His name was Maewyn Succat. As a teenager, Maewyn was kidnapped and taken to Ireland, where he served as sheperd. He had religious visions and dreams. In a dream, he saw a  boat to go out of Ireland. After a dangerous journey of hundreds of miles, he went to the coast and he saw a boat that went to Britain. He returned as a bishop, he travelled to Ireland to convert Irishto Christianity .

Why green?

• Because it is the colour of hope, the shamrocks and it’s one of the colours of the Irish flag.
