Regular Meetings: Second and fourth Tuesday of the month

Exception:July and August are the fourth Tuesday

of the monthDecember is the second Tuesday of the month

All meetings Start at 7:00 P.M.

The Officers have all been duly elected and are preparing for the upcoming fraternal year.I look forward to working with every one of them to ensure that we have a solid year. I wish all theOfficers the best of luck and offer them my assistance wherever and whenever they choose to useit. As always, my door is always open to all our members. I also want toagain remind all of the Officers that they cannot be installed unless theirdues for the upcoming year are paid in full.

The process for making up the budget for next year willcommence shortly. The Lodge and House Committee will be formulatingworkable budgets, and will work hard to make it something that we canall live with. We must keep in mind that the Lodge is going through somevery lean times that we have not seen in many years. It is imperative toour future that moneys are generated to help us regain the stability thatwe all have enjoyed recently.

Lapsation of our membership is an omnipresent problem. Ourpercentage hovers over 5%, which erodes at our ability to provide thelevel of participation in our Grand Lodge programs and services to thecommunity we serve. I will take this opportunity to remind the membersthat have not paid their 2014 – 2015 dues that it is not too late to retainyour membership in our Order. Whether you are able to come down to enjoy the Lodge or not, yourdues help to maintain the programs that I am sure originally interested you in becoming a member. These programs are still vital to our community and all those that we reach out to.

Always remember, that if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, you may reachme by email at [email protected], or leave a message at 203-755-1779. I only ask that you sign youremails with your name and/or membership number so that I don’t have to try to figure out who youare from an email “nickname.” I am in the office at least 2 nights during the week.

Fraternally,JON ARTHUR, PDD, SVP

State Vice PresidentSecretary

February was a busy month at the lodge and I hope all who attendedfunctions had a fantastic time. March is upon us and hopefully we will startseeing some spring like weather soon!! The fraternal lodge year is alsocoming to a close at the end of the month. We do have a jam packed Marchto end my year as Exalted Ruler. The new Lodge year starts on April 1st soplease get your dues in ASAP! Do not throw away your 2014-2015 cardwhen your new card comes in as it will not work until April 1.

We kicked off February with the House Committee once againthrowing a fantastic Super Bowl party. If you did not attend, I suggest youget some friends and family together next year and come watch the biggame. The Valentine’s Day Big Bash was also a huge success. The bandskept people moving and the food prepared by Richie Lanza was superb.Thank you John Kunkel, John Carasella and your entire committee for a

great night! At our 1st Lodge meeting in February we had nominations of Officers for the 2015-2016fraternal year. I want to congratulate ER Elect, Mike Madzek, and all the uncontested chairs.

On March 7th we are taking a bus trip to the 9-11 Memorial in NYC. We will have a guidedtour and be placing a wreath from the Lodge near the fountains. I strongly recommend that you joinus for this memorable trip. Once again we will be having our PER initiation on March 10th. Everyyear the old guard shows us how the Ritual should be done. Thank you to all the PER’s for yourefforts in keeping this tradition going. A week after the PER initiation is St. Patrick’s Day. Come downfor lunch, dinner or both to enjoy the best corn beef in town. March 21st will be Elk, Officer andCitizen of the year banquet. Richie Lanza will be catering the event and Crash 21 will be providingthe entertainment. I hope to see many of the members of the bowling league to honor our brotherRanie! To wrap up the lodge year we will be having Installation of Officers on March 28th. It isalways a wonderful night to support the incoming Officers.

My Elk of the month is Delbert “Del” Brinn. Del is always at the lodge supporting the barand other events. He has repaired the popcorn machine for us and on Fridays he has been bringingdown an amp and plugging in to provide great tunes for the Friday night crowd. Thank you for beinga great member and an asset to the lodge.

Fraternally yours,Ryan Gannon ER

31st Annual Sportsmen’s HolidayJune 4th-7th, 2015 at Wildwood, New Jersey

Fellow Sportsmen, It’s less than four months from kick-off for our 31st trip to New Jersey. John Kunkel and I are once again being co-chairmen of this event.Ed Charette, Dick Champagne and Tony Barzydlo are again in charge of all things having to do with the golf arrangements. Payments for the golf will againbe made in advance through me.

Here are the rules of the road:

1. Last year we had 106 participants and 72 golfers. The trip will again be limited to current Elk members and those not members who have previously goneon the trip. If there is someone who wishes to go on the trip for the first time this year, he will need to be in process of becoming an Elks 265 member.

2. I have already reserved the entire Aztec and Safari motels for our trip and eliminate multiple locations and avoid potential confusion over room assignments.I expect room prices to increase somewhat over last year but not drastically. As a result the fee will be $320 per person double occupancy and $425 for a singleroom. We think golf will remain approximately the same at $118.00 for Friday and Saturday but this could change once Ed Charette finalizes details. Thosewanting to play Thursday, June 4th when we arrive will make their own arrangements at the course. Ed Charette is working on this as we speak. CriticallyImportant is we are advised at time of your deposit if you are planning on playing golf Friday and Saturday. We used up all slots last year so we need to knowwhom up front expects to play and your foursome if available early on so as not to disappoint anybody.

3. All transportation to Wildwood will be the responsibility of participating members. We would appreciate any members with vans to assist in transportingluggage, golf clubs, and food and beverage supplies as in the past.A deposit of $100 per person will be expected by Tuesday March 17, 2015, coincidentally, St. Patrick’s Day; not easy to forget. Here’s comes the standard speech. I had to chase around after a few of you last year. Please don’t make me alter my usual charming personality. Now thatI’m retired I have even less inclination to track down those missing in action. I would prefer NO cash be exchanged for accounting purposes and to notchallenge my memory. Make all checks payable to Elks Lodge #265. Checks can be left at the bar to my attention- NO Cash.Payment in full for rooms AND golf will be expected by Friday, May 22nd, 2015.

4. Last year 35 or so participants elected to go down on Wednesday taking advantage of a generous offer from Adamo to charge only $50 per room for theextra day. That offer is extended again this year. The payment for the additional day is not in the trip package but will be settled individually by those who chooseto go on Wednesday and Adamo. I will need to know well in advance who wants to go Wednesday so I can make arrangements with Adamo. One monetarychange this year: if you plan on going down on Wednesday for the additional day, a fee of $25 will be expected to cover additional food and beverage costsfor the extra day. It’s not fair for others who come down on Thursday for the weekend to pay the same price but not pay for the extra day.

at the bar to my attention- NO Cash. Payment in full for rooms AND golf will be expected by Friday, May 22nd, 2015.

4. Last year 35 or so participants elected to go down on Wednesday taking advantage of a generous offer from Adamo to charge

only $50 per room for the extra day. That offer is extended again this year. The payment for the additional day is not in the trip pack-

age but will be settled individually by those who choose to go on Wednesday and Adamo. I will need to know well in advance who

wants to go Wednesday so I can make arrangements with Adamo. One monetary change this year: if you plan on going down on

Wednesday for the additional day, a fee of $25 will

be expected to cover additional food and beverage

costs for the extra day. It’s not fair for others who

come down on Thursday for the weekend to pay the

same price but not pay for the extra day.
