Eagle Update Deeply Rooted in Knowledge, Faith, and Family Since 1930
COME LORD JESUS, COME Sunday, December 3rd, is the First Sunday of Advent. Ad-
vent comes from the Latin word “coming”. We are waiting
for the coming of the Christ Child on Christmas day. In the
Brown Envelope this week, you will find the Advent Daily
Reflection booklet. Set aside time as a family to read and
reflect on the daily reflections and practices that are sug-
gested in this booklet.
The most common symbol of Advent is the Advent wreath, which holds four candles
symbolizing hope, peace, joy and love. No doubt you will soon be decorating your
homes for Christmas. As a family, take time next week to decorate your home for Ad-
vent by making an advent wreath. Set the wreath in a place of prominence in your home
where the family can gather to pray and prepare their heart for the real meaning of
Christmas, the birth of Jesus. In addition to an Advent wreath, Advent themed crafts are
often centered around the creation of items that help count down the days or weeks until
Christmas. For children's Advent crafts and activities go to http://www.pinterest.com.
or http://www.stnicholascenter.com. Let us work together to bring the real meaning
of Christmas into our homes.
