Sanctuary reopen
We are hoping to get back to a more normal service schedule in
mid-September. We are hopeful that by then the Covid situation will be such that we can return to our normal two service schedule. Having said that conditions may change so we will just
have to monitor the situation and act accordingly. If/when we are able to go back it very well may be that we could have limited
seating, reserved seats, etc. Stay tuned.
North campus update
The buyers original and final option timed out on July 10, 2020. Previously to that they had
submitted a zoning change application to the City of Bulverde. Their zoning change application was denied. The buyers asked the Church for more time to allow them to work with the City. We offered that they could extend the option on the land for up to one year in quarterly
installments for a price of $6250 per quarter and they can back out quarterly. The payments that they are making for this extension will not be refundable and not applied to the ultimate
purchase price. They have executed the extension option for the first quarter. Furthermore, we told them that we would remain neutral in the zoning change application process with the City of Bulverde. If they pick up all four options that should sufficiently cover our tax burden on the
land for a year.
Interim Pastor
We have a position posted for an interim Pastor. The LCMC recommends that you not jump from one Senior Pastor to another but that you transition to an interim Pastor, and then initiate
a call and selection process for a new senior Pastor. Once a new senior Pastor is selected he would replace the interim Pastor. The interim Pastor process allows time for the call process to
be done appropriately and thoroughly and time for healing in the congregation. The interim Pastor posting has been up for about 3-4 weeks and will be taken off July 24, 2020. To date we have 7 applicants who have expressed interest. After July 24th we will begin to review the
interim Pastor applicants and keep everyone posted of developments. Additionally, we have retained the services of Pastor Eric Hulstrand of Moving Forward to help us through this process
thru the end of the year – he will be helping with the interim process and the call process for the senior Pastor. The cost from him for this service was $2000 to assist us through the end of 2020. Until the interim Pastor position is filled we will be utilizing supply Pastors. Some of
those include Pastor Don Ofsdahl, Pastor Bryce Formwalt of the Texas District LCMC and some
others from which we are waiting their confirmation/availability.
Upgrade Committee
We just wanted to express our thanks and gratitude to the Facilities Upgrade committee for
all they have done and are continuing to do. A number of their recommendations have been enacted and as such we have done/are in the process of some remodeling in the Fellowship
Hall to include some painting, new flooring and some remodeling in the kitchen. So far everything looks great! If you get a chance please thank them for their time and efforts. The committee members are; Robin Armke, Jackie Oldfield, Lori Winkler, Judi Sims and Don
Fischer. Numerous other folks have been helping with the facilities on painting, power washing, the kitchen remodel, etc. – we thank them all for their efforts in making St. Paul a special
place.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12

BE STILL
Why does it seem so difficult to just be still? I don't mean being still in a comfy chair curled up with a good novel or being still watching TV. When was the last time you were still before God? We have so many distractions and many times miss out on God's best for us. God tells us in Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God." God wants to be the center of our lives. We can be still before God when taking a walk, or watering the garden, as we look out our window and are blessed with seeing a hummingbird or deer in the yard. Or, how about the times we are in awe of a sunrise or sunset, or the beauty of the cloud formations? We can worship and be still before God as we appreciate and acknowledge all He gives us each day. Instead of hurrying through each day, may our spiritual eyes be open to His majesty.
"Worship in the truest sense takes place when our full attention is on God--on His glory, His power, His majesty, His love, His compassion. And if we're honest, this doesn't happen very often, because even in church or in our times of quiet devotion, we get distracted and fail to see God as He truly is." (From Billy Graham's Wisdom for Each Day)
Dear Heavenly Father,
There is a lot in this world to distract us and take our attention from You. Help us to be still in Your presence. You deserve our praise and honor. Please quiet our hearts and minds so that we may be lead to the quiet waters of wor-ship, and rest in You.
LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!
In Jesus' Holy Name, Amen.

The Red Roof Readers will be meeting on August 10th to be discussing the book The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. This heart-warming book and then a popular movie is a
deeply funny and ultimately uplifting story of family, loyalty, and hope – a captivating look at the wonders and absurdities of human life…as only a dog could tell it.
Please come and join us on this evening in The Fellowship Hall at 6pm for fun, food, and fellowship. There is always a lively discussion and lots of good thoughts shared!
Our ladies BUNCO group will not be meeting until the social
distancing restrictions are lifted. Please contact Judi Sims at [email protected] for more
information.
As you recall in the July Epistle, evidence of active termites were discovered in the walls of the fellowship hall. The Church Facilities Upgrade Team obtained 3 bids for the treatment of termites and have made a recommendation to the council. Council will be contacting the recommended company to schedule treatment for the termites along with a pest control contract moving forward. The ceiling stains in the Fellowship Hall have been addressed the best possible way without having to replace the ceiling. We were striving to avoid ceiling replacement because of the excessive cost involved. We believe it looks 99% better with the primer, sealer, and paint that was applied to the stained areas. Bids have been reviewed for new flooring in the Fellowship Hall. After careful consideration of all bids, the bid was awarded to O''Krent Floors. They will be installing new flooring in the fellowship hall, the kitchen area, the Luther room, and the Choir room. The team is currently reviewing options for new counter tops for the fellowship kitchen area, restrooms adjacent to the fellowship hall, and the counter in the Luther room. The team continues to review landscaping options. The team obtained bids from two landscaping companies. These bids came back extremely high so we continue to discuss our options. We really would like to improve our landscaping but we are very cost conscious so this actually is taking more time than we anticipated. We continue to try our best to enhance our church facilities as we have been tasked to do. It's taking some time but you will be seeing some very eye pleasing changes in the very near future. ~Your Church Facilities Upgrade Team
