First Reading: IS 25:6-10a On this mountain the LORD of hosts will provide for all peoples a feast of rich food and choice wines, juicy, rich food and pure, choice wines. On this mountain he will destroy the veil that veils all peoples, the web that is woven over all nations; he will destroy death forever. The Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from every face;

Gloria: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise You, we bless You, we adore You, we glorify You, we give You thanks, for Your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, You take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; You take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; You are seated at the right hand of the Father: have mercy on us. For You alone are the Holy One, You alone are the Lord, You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

in my thoughts and in my words, in what I done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

the reproach of his people he will remove from the whole earth; for the LORD has spoken. On that day it will be said: "Behold our God, to whom we looked to save us! This is the LORD for whom we looked; let us rejoice and be glad that he has saved us!" For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain. TheWordoftheLordThanksbetoGod.

Responsorial Psalm: PS 23:1-3A, 3B-4, 5-6

[R]. I shall live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life . The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. In verdant pastures he gives me repose; beside restful waters he leads me; he refreshes my soul. [R]. He guides me in right paths for his name's sake. Even though I walk in the dark valley I fear no evil; for you are at my side with your rod and your staff that give me courage. [R]. You spread the table before me in the sight of my foes; you anoint my head with oil; my cup over lows. [R]. Only goodness and kindness follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for years to come . [R].

Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia May the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ enlighten the eyes of our hearts, so that we may know what is the hope that belongs to our call . All: Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia

Gospel: MATT 22:1-14 Jesus again in reply spoke to the chief priests and elders of the people in parables, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son. He dispatched his servants to summon the invited guests to the feast, but they refused to come. A second time he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those invited: “Behold, I have prepared my banquet, my calves and fattened cattle are killed, and everything is ready; come to the feast.”’ Some ignored the invitation and went away, one to his farm, another to his business. The rest laid hold of his servants, mistreated them, and killed them. The king was enraged and sent his troops, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city. Then he said to his servants, 'The feast is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy to come. Go out, therefore, into the main roads and invite to the feast whomever you ind.’ The servants went out into the streets and gathered all they found, bad and good alike, and the hall was illed with guests. But when the king came in to meet the guests, he saw a man there not dressed in a wedding garment. The king said to him, 'My friend, how is it that you came in here without a wedding garment?' But he was reduced to silence. Then the king said to his attendants, 'Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.’ Many are invited, but few are chosen." TheGospeloftheLordPraisetoYouLordJesusChrist

Second Reading: PHIL 4:12-14, 19-20 Brothers and sisters: I know how to live in humble circumstances; I know also how to live with abundance. In every circumstance and in all things I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of living in abundance and of being in need. I can do all things in him who strengthens me. Still, it was kind of you to share in my distress. My God will fully supply whatever you need, in accord with his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father, glory forever and ever. Amen. A Prayer for Protection in Time of Pandemic

O Mary, you always brighten our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the Cross, took part in Jesus’ pain while remaining steadfast in faith. O loving Mother, you know what we need and we are con ident you will provide for us as at Cana in Galilee. Intercede for us with your Son Jesus, the Divine Physician, for those who have fallen ill, for those who are vulnerable, and for those who have died. Intercede also for those charged with protecting the health and safety of others and for those who are tending to the sick and seeking a cure. Help us, O Mother of the Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who took upon himself our suffering and carried our sorrows, so as to lead us, through the Cross to the glory of the Resurrection. Amen. Underthyprotectionweseekrefuge,OHolyMotherofGod.Inourneeds,despisenotourpetitionbutdeliverusalwaysfromalldangers.OgloriousandblessedVirgin,Amen.

Preparation Song: Sat 5 PM & Sun 7:30 AM Open My Eyes Open my eyes, Lord. Help me to see your face. Open my eyes, Lord. Help me to see. And the irst shall be last, and our eyes are opened, and we’ll hear like never before. And we’ll speak in new ways, and we’ll see God’s face in places we’ve never known. Open my ears, Lord. Help me to hear your voice. Open my ears, Lord. Help me to hear. © 1975, John B. Foley, S.J. and OCP. All rights reserved. Used with permission

True God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation He came down from heaven, (Bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was cruci ied under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glori ied, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. Universal Prayer: (Prayer of the Faithful)

Happy Birthday, Fr. Bruno — St. Paul Parishioners.

Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time October 11, 2020

Y A I T T F R . I S , P V

A family friend invited me for the wedding of one of his sons, which was to be celebrated in their commu-nity Church. The wedding was slo ed to take place April 18th, 2020, which coincided with my birthday. As his wedding plans were underway, the pandemic (COVID-19) broke out, devasta ng all public gather-ings. The invited guests, friends and rela ves were willing to a end but the lockdown protocols of phys-ical distancing kept most of the guests away. Therefore, the couple was le with witnesses, a priest and selected family members. The pain of not having the support and par cipa-

on of loved ones, on such an im-portant occasion can be devasta ng. The presence of possible Corona Vi-rus carriers is scary. It makes every event humbled, and forces the cele-brant to conduct the gathering in some modified way. The necessity of masking may destroy the ele-gance of the occasion. The lessons that can be drawn from the guests that did not honor the wedding invita on are numerous. Jesus Christ emphasizes how the kingdom of God is set; priests ready to serve, prophets speaking with and on behalf of God, and with leaders ready to do the will of God. The invita on is open to anybody willing to put his or her faith into ac on. But, the de-sire to a end to worldly things, may consume our

me and energy. Being invited to par cipate in an event is a proof of the respect the organizer of the celebra on has for his dignitary. The kingdom of God

is for all, to par cipate. Therefore, it should be given due a en on it deserves, by doing the needful, in order to secure a spot in the presence of God. When people a end a public event, the expecta on is that everyone will dress in their appropriate best. People are o en received based upon their manner of dress; we are o en judged by the way in which we

appear. The host of the wedding feast, in our reflec on, observed that one person did not dress properly for the wedding feast. Therefore, he ordered to have him thrown out of the celebra on are-na. As par cipants in pursuit of the kingdom of God; we should have the sanc ty and disposi on that will unite us with God, who ini ated human salva on. We should take advantage of the generosity of God; otherwise we may lead ourselves into doom. Saint Augus ne of Hippo notes, God made us for His sake and our heart is restless un l it rests in the Lord.

The Church, a physical presence of God has talented, skillful, and dynamic members; is bestowed with the gi of holiness to enrich humanity in the world. This parable emphasizes the fact that God is always ini -a ng human redemp on. As a way of responding, we should listen to God in the Old Testament law to be Holy, and Jesus Christ in the New Testament as the source of salva on. God does not exclude any-body; unless we do that through our own a tude.
