Welcome to St Paul’s

This is my new school, St Paul’s Junior School

St Paul’s is a junior school for children aged 7 - 11. You can go to St Paul’s from year 3 to year 6. They are very excited to have you coming to their school.St Paul’s is in Shepton Mallet and they name all of their classes after places in Shepton Mallet. The year 6 classes are called Monmouth, Kilver and Cornhill. You will be in one of these three classes.

I’m looking forward to going to school.

St Paul’s is along the road, it’s easy to see. You will see their nice big blue signs and might even use the pedestrian crossing to cross the road to get into the school.When you get into the school, it might look quite big, but that’s because they have lots of great spaces for you to learn and have fun.

At St Paul’s there is a rotation system for when you eat your lunch. Some weeks you might be the first ones to go in but the following you could be the last. At St Paul’s we do this to make it fair and so that we can get all our students in to eat their lunch over our lunch time break.

When I am at St Paul’s, I will get to learn in indoor and outdoor spaces.

At Forest School you could make crafts with natural materials and even cook over a camp fire. The Pavilion is an outdoor space and lots of the children play here at break and lunch times.The school hall is where you will eat your lunch, but you will also have assemblies in here and some PE lessons.You can always find help in the reception, which is located in the main building. Either through the big, blue front door or from the back door.Reception

There are lots of places to play in the school.

There are lots of sections to our playgrounds around the school. There are 3 jungle gyms, 2 playgrounds, the pavilion, the quiet garden and the playing field. There are lots of teachers standing around to help and talk to at break and lunch and you will learn their names so quickly.

There are 2 playgrounds called Upper and Lower School Playground, but you can play in both of them, The teachers will get out fun equipment to play with at break and lunch, like footballs, basket balls, skipping ropes, hula hoops and lots more.

How to get around

Get to class through the door from the playground

I can always ask for help to find where I want to go.

When you first arrive at school, you will normally be in the upper school playground, from here it is easy to get to anywhere in the school. See if you can match photos from in your booklet with the map on the next page.

Monmouth and Kilver are above the reception on the 1st floor and Cornhill is next to the library in the middle section of the school.
