Stewardship Reflections 2nd Sunday of Easter

“The community of believers was of one heart and mind,

and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his

own...” – ACTS 4:32

All that we are and all that we have is a gift from God! Think of your family, your friends, your talents, your abilities and your money – these are all gifts from God! We aren’t really owners of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gifts God has blessed us with.

YÜÉÅ à{x Wxá~ Éy `ázÜA V{tÜÄxáM

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Happy Easter! I say this because this weekend is actually part of Easter Day. The day consists

of eight days, called an octave. The other feast with an octave is Christmas. Epiphany and Pentecost used to have octaves, but these were eliminated after the Second Vatican Council. Of course the Easter Season consists of seven weeks, ending on the Solemnity of Pentecost.

You have probably noticed that we have been using the Apostles Creed every Sunday for some time. Originally this was for the purpose of saving my voice. I have come to realize, however, that it is the easier creed to say, so we will continue to use it most of the time. I believe, however, that the more detailed Nicene Creed should be used from time to time.

I have therefore, decided to use the Nicene Creed on the following Sundays:

The First Sunday of Advent The Sunday after the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord The First Sunday of Lent The Second Sunday of Easter The Sunday after the Solemnity of Corpus Christi The Sunday after Labor Day

I will always announce at Mass whatever creed we’re using that day.

Peace & Blessings.

Thank You

A special thank you to ushers and others who assisted parishioners with special needs through Holy Week and Easter services. God bless you all.

Also thank you to John Kavanaugh of the Esquire Club for generously providing hams for our Easter food baskets and to Sylvia Kimberley who shopped for groceries for this special outreach.
