You, O Lord , after living a whole eternity in ineffable bliss, because you are the one and sole perfection, at length did begin to create spirits to be with you and to share your blessedness according to their degree; and the return they made you was at once to rebel against you. First a great part of the angels, then mankind have risen up against you and served others, not you. Why did you create us, but to make us happy? Could you be more happy by creating us? And how could we be hap-py but in obeying you? Yet we determined not to be happy as you would have us happy, but to find our happiness of our own; and so we left you. O my God, what a return is it that we – that I – make you when we sin! What a dreadful unthankfulness is it! And what will be my punishment for refusing to be happy and for preferring hell to heaven! I know what the punishment will be. You will say, “Let him have it all his own way. He wishes to perish. He despises the graces I give him; they shall turn them to a curse.” You, O my God, have a claim on me, and I am wholly yours! You are the almighty Creator, and I am your workmanship. Registration for CCD You may register your child for our First Communion, In-termediate, and Confirmation programs Monday thru Fri-day from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the CCD office.

First Communion: Child must be 6 years old or in the First Grade to enter the program. Students coming back for their 2nd year must also register.

Intermediate: This program is for children who have al-ready received the sacrament of First Holy Communion, but are not yet ready for the Confirmation program. This is a great program to continue your child’s growth in the faith.

Confirmation: Students entering the program must be within the ages of 13 and 16. Second year students also need to register.

You must bring a copy of your child’s Baptismal Certifi-cate (for the First Communion and Confirmation pro-grams) and the donation of $30.

*Note: Registration deadline for all programs will be September 22.

RCIA Classes: The RCIA or Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process through which interested adults are gradually introduced to the Roman Catholic faith and way of life. Who is it for? There are three types of persons for which this process is designed: those who have never been baptized, those who have been baptized in a different Christian faith tradition, and those who have been baptized as Catholics but have not received religious instruction and have not received the sacraments of Confirmation and Eu-charist.

Well, in the supernatural order, the same thing happens to people who are not humble and have made a cowardly surrender to lust. They don't see, or hear, or understand anything. They are paralysed. They are like men gone mad. Each of us here ought to invoke Our Lord, and his Blessed Mother, and pray that he will grant us humility and a determination to avail ourselves devoutly of the divine remedy of confes-sion. Do not let even the smallest focal point of corruption take root in your souls, no matter how tiny it may be. Speak out. When water flows, it stays clean; blocked up, it becomes a stagnant pool full of repugnant filth. What was once drinking water becomes a breeding-ground for in-sects.

Primera Comunión: Los niños deben tener por lo menos 6 años de edad o estar en el 1er grado escolar. Los estu-diantes que regresan por el segundo año también necesitan registrarse.

Intermedio: Este maravilloso programa es para aquellos niños que han recibido el Sacramento de la Eucaristía y aún no tienen la edad para entrar al programa de Confirma-ción.

Confirmación: Los estudiantes comenzando este progra-ma tienen que estar entre las edades 13-16. Los que regre-sen por segundo año también tienen que registrarse.

Clases de RICA: El RICA o el Rito de Iniciación Cristia-na de Adultos es el proceso a través del cual los adultos interesados se introducen poco a poco a la fe católica y su forma de vida. ¿Para quién es el RICA? Hay tres tipos de personas para el que este proceso está diseñado: los que no han sido bautizados, los que han sido bautizados en una tradición de fe cristiana diferente, y los que han sido bauti-zados como católicos, pero que no han recibido instrucción religiosa y no han recibido los sacramentos de la Confir-mación y la Eucaristía.

Mirad que el que está podrido por la concupiscencia de la carne, espiritualmente no logra andar, es incapaz de una obra buena, es un lisiado que permanece tirado como un trapo. ¿No habéis visto a esos pacientes con parálisis pro-gresiva, que no consiguen valerse, ni ponerse de pie? Cada uno de nosotros debe invocar al Señor, a la Madre de Dios, y rogar que nos conceda la humildad y la decisión de aprovechar con pie-dad el divino remedio de la confesión. No permitáis que en vuestra alma anide un foco de podredumbre, aunque sea muy pequeño. Hablad. Cuando el agua corre, es limpia; cuando se estanca, forma un charco lleno de porquería re-pugnante, y de agua potable pasa a ser un caldo de bichos.

The Seven Sorrows of Mary by Fr. Gabriel of

St. Mary Magdalen, OCD The liturgy puts on the lips of Our La-dy of Sorrows these touching words: “O you who pass by the way, attend and see if there be any sorrow like to my sorrow”. Yes, her grief was im-measurable, and was surpassed only by her love, a love so great that it could encompass that vast sea of sor-row. It can be said of Mary, as of no other creature, that her love was stronger than death; in fact, it made her able to support the cruel death of Jesus. “Who could be unfeeling in contem-plating the Mother of Christ suffering with her Son?” chants the Stabat Ma-ter; and immediately it adds, “O Mother…make me feel the depth of your sorrow, so that I may weep with you. May I bear in my heart the wounds of Christ; make me share in His Passion and become inebriated by the Cross and Blood of your Son.” In response to the Church’s invitation, let us contemplate Mary’s sor-rows, sympathize with her, and ask her for the invalua-ble grace of sharing with her in the Passion of Jesus. Let us remember that this participation is not to be merely sentimental – even though this sentiment is good and holy – but it must lead us to real compassion, that is, to suffering with Jesus and Mary. The suffer-ings God sends us have no other purpose. The sight of Mary at the foot of the Cross makes the lesson of the Cross less hard and less bitter; her mater-nal example encourages us to suffer and makes the road to Calvary easier. Let us go, then, with Mary, to join Jesus on Golgotha; let us go with her to meet our cross; and sustained by her, let us embrace it willingly, uniting it with her Son’s. Colloquy “You are there, O Mary, at the foot of the Cross, standing in strength and courage; and my Master says to me, “Ecce Mater Tua.” Behold your Mother. He gives you to me for my Mother! And now that He has returned to His Father, and has put me in His place on the Cross so that I may fill up those things which is the Church, you are still there, O Mary, to teach me to suf-fer as He did, to let me hear the last song of His soul which no one but you, O Mother, could overhear”. That my desire for suffering will not be sterile, help me. O sweet Mother, to recognize in each daily suffer-ing the Cross of your Jesus and to embrace it with love. (Excerpt from Divine Intimacy)

Santa María Magdalena, OCD La liturgia pone en los labios de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores estas palabras conmovedoras: "¡Oh voso-tros que pasáis por el camino, aten-ded y ved si hay dolor como mi do-lor!". Sí, su dolor era inconmensura-ble, y fue superado sólo por su amor, un amor tan grande que pudo abarcar ese vasto mar de dolor. Se puede de-cir de María, como de ninguna otra criatura, que su amor era más fuerte que la muerte; de hecho, la hizo ca-paz de sostener la cruel muerte de Jesús. "¿Quién pudiese ser insensible al contemplar a la Madre de Cristo su-

friendo con su Hijo?", Canta el Stabat Mater; e inme-diatamente añade: "Oh Madre... hazme sentir la pro-fundidad de tu dolor, para que yo llore. Que su Pasión y muerte tenga en mi alma, Sus penas vea. Haz que su Cruz me enamore... ".
