A Reading from the Book of Isaiah
For Zion's sake I will not be silent, for Jerusalem's sake I will not be quiet, until her vindication shines forthlike the dawn and her victory like a burning torch. Nations shall behold your vindication, and all the kingsyour glory; you shall be called by a new name pronounced by the mouth of the LORD. You shall be aglorious crown in the hand of the LORD, a royal diadem held by your God. No more shall people call you"Forsaken," or your land "Desolate," but you shall be called "My Delight," and your land "Espoused." Forthe LORD delights in you and makes your land his spouse. As a young man marries a virgin, your Buildershall marry you; and as a bridegroom rejoices in his bride so shall your God rejoice in you. Lector: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God.

A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles
When Paul reached Antioch in Pisidia and entered the synagogue, he stood up, motioned with his hand, and said,"Fellow Israelites and you others who are God-fearing, listen. The God of this people Israel chose our ancestors andexalted the people during their sojourn in the land of Egypt. With uplifted arm he led them out of it. Then he removedSaul and raised up David as king; of him he testified, 'I have found David, son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; hewill carry out my every wish.' From this man's descendants God, according to his promise, has brought to Israel asavior, Jesus. John heralded his coming by proclaiming a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel; and as Johnwas completing his course, he would say, 'What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. Behold, one is coming afterme; I am not worthy to unfasten the sandals of his feet.'" Lector: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God.
A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew(The shorter Vatican approved version.)
People: Glory to you, O Lord.This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, butbefore they lived together, she was found with child through the Holy Spirit. Joseph her husband, sincehe was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly. Such washis intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son ofDavid, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that thischild has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will savehis people from their sins." All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means"God is with us." When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took hiswife into his home. He had no relations with her until she bore a son, and he named him Jesus.

A Reading from the Book of Prophet Isaiah
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom alight has shone. You have brought them abundant joy and great rejoicing, as they rejoice before you as at theharvest, as people make merry when dividing spoils. For the yoke that burdened them, the pole on theirshoulder, and the rod of their taskmaster you have smashed, as on the day of Midian. For every boot thattramped in battle, every cloak rolled in blood, will be burned as fuel for flames. For a child is born to us, ason is given us; upon his shoulder dominion rests. They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero, Father-Forever, Prince of Peace. His dominion is vast and forever peaceful, from David’s throne, and overhis kingdom, which he confirms and sustains by judgment and justice, both now and forever.The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this! Lector: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God.

A Reading from the Letter of St. Paul to Titus
Beloved: The grace of God has appeared, saving all and training us to reject godless ways and worldlydesires and to live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age, as we await the blessed hope, theappearance of the glory of our great God and savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to deliver us fromall lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people as his own, eager to do what is good. Lector: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God.
A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint LukePeople: Glory to you, O Lord.
In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole world should be enrolled. This was thefirst enrollment, when Quirinius was governor of Syria. So all went to be enrolled, each to his own town.And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David that is calledBethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, whowas with child. While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to herfirstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no roomfor them in the inn. Now there were shepherds in that region living in the fields and keeping the night watchover their flock. The angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, andthey were struck with great fear. The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to yougood news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been bornfor you who is Christ and Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddlingclothes and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel,praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

A Reading from the Book of Isaiah
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings glad tidings, announcing peace, bearinggood news, announcing salvation, and saying to Zion, "Your God is King!" Hark! Your sentinels raise a cry,together they shout for joy, for they see directly, before their eyes, the LORD restoring Zion. Break outtogether in song, O ruins of Jerusalem! For the LORD comforts his people, he redeems Jerusalem. TheLORD has bared his holy arm in the sight of all the nations; all the ends of the earth will behold thesalvation of our God. A Reading from the Letter to the Hebrews
Brothers and sisters: In times past, God spoke in partial and various ways to our ancestors through the prophets; in theselast days, he has spoken to us through the Son, whom he made heir of all things and through whom he created theuniverse, who is the refulgence of his glory, the very imprint of his being, and who sustains all things by his mighty word.When he had accomplished purification from sins, he took his seat at the right hand of the Majesty on high, as far superiorto the angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. For to which of the angels did God ever say: Youare my son; this day I have begotten you? Or again: I will be a father to him, and he shall be a son to me? And again,when he leads the firstborn into the world, he says: Let all the angels of God worship him.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. JohnPeople: Glory to you, O Lord.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He wasin the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothingcame to be. What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the humanrace; the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. The true light,which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the worldcame to be through him, but the world did not know him. He came to what was his own, buthis own people did not accept him. But to those who did accept him he gave power tobecome children of God, to those who believe in his name, who were born not by naturalgeneration nor by human choice nor by a man's decision but of God. And the Word becameflesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father'sonly Son, full of grace and truth.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
consubstantial with the Father;
through Him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation He came down
from heaven,At the words that follow, up to and including and became man, all bow
and by the Holy Spirit was Incarnate of the
Virgin Mary and became Man.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius
Pilate,
He suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living
and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of
Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
Who with the Father and the Son is adored and
glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

Entrance
The First Noel
The First Noel, the Angels did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the East beyond them far
And to the earth it gave great light
And so it continued both day and night.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
And by the light of that same star
Three Wise men came from country far
To seek for a King was their intent
And to follow the star wherever it went.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
Offertory
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
Hark the herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled"
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim:
"Christ is born in Bethlehem"
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"
Christ by highest heav'n adored
Christ the everlasting Lord!
Late in time behold Him come
Offspring of a Virgin's womb
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see
Hail the incarnate Deity
Pleased as man with man to dwell
Jesus, our Emmanuel
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"
Concluding
Silent Night
Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child.
Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night,
Shepherds quake at the sight;
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heav’nly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born!
Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love’s pure light;
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.
Meditation
O Little Town of Bethlehem
O little town of Bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie;
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by:
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee to-night.
For Christ is born of Mary;
And gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love.
O morning stars, together
Proclaim the holy birth;
And praises sing to God the King,
And peace to men on earth.
How silently, how silently,
The wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of His heaven.
No ear may hear His coming,
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him still,
The dear Christ enters in.
