He is risen!

Almost 3,400 of us celebrated Easter at St. Peter’s in seven worship services, following Holy Week, which included Palm/Passion Sunday, an Easter Egg Hunt and a special Holy Thursday service. Most of our new buildings and ministry spaces were up and running to handle all of those who came to worship.

Dear Friends in Christ,Bishop Fulton Sheen, in his autobiography “Treasure in Clay,” wrote

about an experience he had when he was traveling around preaching: “I stopped to ask a few boys for directions

to the Town Hall where I was giving a lecture. They told me where the Town Hall was and then asked, “What are you going to do there?” “I’m giving a lecture on heaven and how to get there. Would you like to come and find out?” “You’re kidding,” one boy said. “You don’t even know the way to the Town Hall.”

As Christians, we don’t claim to know everything, but we should be able to point the way to heaven. John 3:16 is one of the most popular verses in the entire Bible: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not per-ish but may have eternal life.” In this one verse we have the directions needed to show others the way to heaven. This is what we are doing as we seek to connect the world with God’s love.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday.Grace and Peace,

May 18. Look for the Giving Tree in the Lobby. Donations are needed to keep the cost of this program down and are greatly appreciated. For more information, contact Amanda Verell at [email protected].

The Gospel of John contains many of the “I am” sayings of Jesus. These are sayings in which he compares himself to a shepherd, a gate, and the

light of the world to help us understand who he is. God does the same thing in Exodus when he tells Moses “I am who I am.” Please join us beginning May 11 in traditional worship for a new sermon series “The Great I Am,” in which we will explore these sayings and what they mean for us.

All Vacation Bible School volunteers are

reminded that our train-ing session is April 27 at noon in Asbury Hall. If you are unable to attend, you must attend the May 7 training, which is at 6:30 p.m. in Asbury Hall. If you have questions, contact Amanda Verrell at [email protected].

Just when you think everything is running smoothly, there is a hiccup.

When our website went down and our e-mail was not functioning, we

realized how much we are tied to technology. Suddenly we had to find new

ways to communicate and do our work. And the timing couldn’t have been

worse, happening just before Easter. It just took one thing falling through

the cracks to make everything come to a standstill. Please accept my apolo-

gies for any inconvenience you experienced during this time.

I hope everyone is excited about our Open House scheduled for Sun-

day, May 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. I am asking my family members who live in the

Houston area to come see the new additions and renovations we have just

completed. I do not think I have seen a nursery as big as ours before; it will

be able to take care of infants and small children of members and guests as

we grow as a church. Please join us in sharing our new spaces, and invite your

neighbors and friends.

With the Living Stones campus starting preview services in July, I am

excited how everything is coming together for both our new campus in west

Katy and our main campus on Kingsland. We welcome everyone to come be a

part of the growth here at St. Peter’s.

Frank NanceExecutive Director

We have finished our year-long expansion of our campus funded by the Magnify and Multiply campaign. To celebrate, we invite all mem-

bers, guests and the Katy community to an Open House on Sunday, May 18, from 2 to 4 p.m., to view our new facilities for children, students and music. The Open House will in-clude tours of the campus, short programs in each of the new ministry spaces, and light refreshments. We hope to see you there!

Preparing the flowering crosses was just one of the many tasks that needed to be done to get our St. Peter’s cam-pus ready for our Easter celebration. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped in many different ways to en-sure that thousands of people had a wonderful day of worship at St. Peter’s.
