Birth of the SPC RN to BSN Program

Need for Program• Extreme shortage of registered nurses• SPC BSN was projected to and has

increased enrollment in the SPC AS so we are graduating more RNs

• BSN provides a higher level of critical thinking needed to make increasingly complex nursing judgments

RN Completion Program Only• Students must already be registered nurses• Can be either AS or hospital diploma

graduates Seamless articulation with prior nursing

education Delivered at HEC, or off site locations -

Morton Plant Mease Hospital, Oakhill Hospital, BayVista, and currently at Bayonet Point

Registered Nurse Current, valid, unrestricted,

unencumbered nursing license Completion of SPC and

Baccalaureate applications

Enrollment goals initially were 50 students for the first two admissions

Actual enrollments exceed projections by 15 to 50 students per admission

Current enrollment numbers are ~ 330

AACN endorsed a position statement in October 2005
