From the Pastor’s Desk

As I take inventory of my last three years at St. Pio Parish, I am thankful for so many things, but the spirit of vol-unteerism at St. Pio,is one that I thank God continuously for. Volunteerism at St. Pio cannot be matched by many. You, the parishioners, are always available to give the most precious items you will ever own - YOUR TIME AND TALENT! This years Fun Festival was an example of volunteerism in overdrive. Thank you to the 130 plus volun-teers who gave so much and to those who came to the festival and supported the Parish. To the chairpersons, Julie and Bill Grill, Karen and Dean Hilbert, and Kevin and Theresa Switan-owski, the glue that kept us together for so many months. Last but not least, to my leadership team, your ongo-ing support and hard work did not go unnoticed - thank you, thank you! Our combined efforts raised $25,787.20 for our Parish. Thank you for a job well done. You are always in my prayers; your devotion to St. Pio Parish gives me peace.

Your Shepherd,

Fr. Greg

Faith Formation & Youth Ministry News

School has begun for our

Students and we are ready

to get them started in Faith

Formation as well! We

begin with our

"Welcoming Mass" this Monday,

September 18 at 4:30 p.m. for all K-8th

grade students. Please meet in Church

and sit by your assigned class. Pews will

be marked by grade level. Parents are

welcome to join us at this Liturgy! After

the Liturgy, Teachers and Students will

be announced and will proceed to their

classrooms for a "Meet and Greet".

Parents can follow their children to the

classroom and leave with their child at

the 5:45 dismissal time. Since

classrooms are shared, Middle School

Ministry will meet in the Conference

Room on that day only.

As we begin a new year in Faith

Formation, I would like to recognize all

our hard-working Catechists who share

their faith and provide encounters with

Christ to energize our young people and

make them aware of God's Love for

each of them.

K-6 Catechists: Cathy Martin

(Kindergarten), Judy Moskwa & Cheryl

Wilson (1st Grade), Mark Buffa & Barb

Houbeck (2nd Grade), Char Van Marcke

(Continued…)

It is September and exciting

new adventures are happen-

ing at St. Pio. We have two

young women who are now

Enquirers in the RCIA Program. Their

names are Dolly Palmer and Chloe Peek.

Please pray for these two women who are

following the call of the Holy Spirit in

their lives.

I call them Enquirers because that is the

first step in the process of becoming a

Catholic for adults. They are learning,

praying and discerning if this is the path

that their lives are meant to take. The

RCIA Team is blessed to be sharing our

faith with them and teaching them about

the Catholic Church. They are also exam-

ining their relationship with Jesus, hop-

ing to grow in mind, spirit and action as

they walk this journey of faith.

Our sessions with Dolly and Chloe are

based on the Sunday Gospels and topics

such as faith, Prayer, the Bible, traditions

in the Catholic Church, Sacraments,

Commandments, Beatitudes, Sunday

Liturgy and other Rites of the Catholic

Church. There are many more topics that

will be covered throughout the process

and I will touch on some of them in later

articles.

Speaking of Faith, how is your faith

growing at this time? No matter how old

we get, our Faith doesn't stay the same.

We are always going through transfor-

mations in our lives that affect our

Faith...hopefully for the best. Father Greg

reminds us of this often. We need to have

open minds and hearts to accept what is

and what will be with a Faith in God that

will not waver. Faith is believing that

God is with us even in the worst of times

and that Jesus walks with us and carries

us when we are at our weakest. The Holy

Spirit guides us in our decisions and our

actions. If we stay faithful to God's

teaching, we will come through and live

lives of joy and peace.

We are hoping to have more partici-

pants in the RCIA Program. If you or a

relative or friend are interested in joining

the Catholic Church, please give me a

call or call the St. Pio office and they will

give me your information so I can call

you.

May you be blessed in the peace of the

Spirit, Ellen Olivier, RCIA Coordinator

Prayer to St. Michael

Saint Michael the Archangel,

defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares

of the devil. May God rebuke him,

we humbly pray; and do You,

O Prince of the Heavenly Host,

by the Power of God, cast into Hell, Satan and

all evil spirits, who roam throughout the

world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen

Pray to St. Michael for protection against the power of evil, and to bring us closer to God.
