In a recent speech Pope Francis

compared the action of divine grace to the growth of seeds planted in a garden, saying God often works in ways that are both unknown and surprising, but which always bring fruit, and because of this it is important to always trust and never lose faith. The Pope noted that if one looks back at history, it can seem like the world is going “in an opposite direction to the design of the heavenly Father, who wants justice, brotherhood and peace for all of his children.” Catholics, he said, are invited to live these periods “as seasons of trial, hope and of vigilant waiting for the harvest.” The Pope tells us that we must remain confident when moments of darkness and difficulty come along, “but remain anchored to the fidelity of God and to his presence, which always saves.” God’s divine providence is the source of refuge and hope for the believer. The Pope shares this encouraging words as we strive to practice our Christian faith both at home and communally. We would like to take this opportunity to thank those who supported and participated in the APA fundraising event last Saturday. It was a day of hard work and fun. We had music and dances, splendid food, plenty of space where children played, all in a convivial environment. Our Parish was able to collect a total of $5149 that will go towards reaching our 2018 Annual Pastoral Appeal goal. Again, many thanks to all who bought tickets, those who generously supported us in different ways, especially our faithful volunteers.

En un reciente discurso el Papa Francisco comparó la acción de la gracia divina al crecimiento de la semilla sembrada en tierra, y expresó que Dios trabaja de forma inescrutable y sorprendente, pero que siempre da frutos, por eso debemos confiar manteniéndonos fieles a Él. El papa acotaba que, si analizamos la historia, puede parecernos que el mundo avanza “en dirección contraria a los designios del Padre, que desea justicia, hermandad y paz entre sus hijos.” Los católicos, decía, deben vivir los periodos difíciles “como temporadas de prueba, con esperanza y en vigilia por la cosecha.” Nos invita el Papa a permanecer alertas en las épocas de oscuridad y dificultad, “perseverantes en la fidelidad a Dios y su presencia salvífica.” La divina providencia es el refugio y la esperanza del creyente. Sin duda, estas palabras animan a cada uno practicar con mayor entrega la fe cristiana en el hogar y la comunidad. Aprovechamos la ocasión para agradecer a todos los que participaron en la actividad de recaudación de fondos para el APA el pasado sábado. Tuvimos música, baile, estupenda comida, espacio para que los niños jugasen, en un ambiente cordial y hospitalario. La parroquia pudo reunir unos $5100 que se sumarán a los fondos ya recogidos para sufragar la Apelación Pastoral Anual de 2018. Sinceras gracias a quienes compraron boletos, los que nos apoyaron en diversos modos, especialmente nuestros fieles voluntarios.

To afford all parishioners the opportunity to book Masses, in particular the popular weekend Masses (Saturday 4:30, Sunday 8:00am, 11:00am and Spanish Mass), we kindly remind you that the following procedure is in place. Masses may be booked:

• No more than six months in advance. • Up to Six Masses may be booked at a time and

only one can be a weekend Mass (listed above). • One intention per weekend.

• Donations for Masses booked by phone MUST be received within 24 hours or Mass may be re-assigned.

Please contact or stop by the office if you would like to have any Masses offered.
