ST. VINCENT DE PAUL In today’s Gospel Jesus called the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” Taking a child, he placed it in their midst, and putting his arms around it, he said to them, “Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me.” Your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will help hungry children feel the arms of Jesus around them.

Dear Friends,

On this Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time we heard once again in Mark’s Gospel how

human, and sometimes even dense, the disciples were. They don’t – or won’t understand what Jesus

means about having to suffer and die, instead now arguing about who among them is the greatest.

Sometimes we in the Church get too caught up in useless arguments about things that are ultimately of

little importance. We are constantly challenged to see what our priorities are as we journey in faith and to

make every effort not to be caught up with things that will not advance us in holiness and grace.

This week is a very special time in the life of our parish. This Sunday we begin our annual FORTY

HOURS DEVOTION. This is an intense time of prayer before our Blessed Lord, ever present to us in the

Blessed Sacrament. As has been our custom in the past, we have Jesus exposed on our altar throughout this

time for praise and adoration by the entire parish community. I am grateful to all of you who have

committed to being present with our Lord, especially through the night hours. I am confident that this will

be a source of special graces to you and your family. I am also grateful to FATHER MATTHEW TRALIES

for his willingness to return to us and to lead us in the reflections on Sunday at 5PM and Monday and

Tuesday at 7PM. PLEASE INVITE members of your family and friends to come and be with us as we pray

for our own needs and for the safety and wellbeing of Pope Francis who will be with us at the end of this

week.

On Tuesday of this week the archdiocese will host the WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES 2015.

This will be four days of talks and reflections on the importance of the family, with special attention given to

the many challenges that confront the Christian family. Please pray for the success of this worldwide conference

and that many graces will flow from this triannual event in the Church.

Also this week we will greet the 80 pilgrims from the Diocese of Lincoln who will be with us to attend the

World Meeting of Families as well as the events of the Papal Visit. I am grateful to Father Stokely and his

committee who have been working diligently to make this a memorable event for our guests. I am deeply grateful to

our host families who will be opening their homes to receive in welcome these brothers and sisters in faith from the

Midwest. As most people from Lincoln, who have had the opportunity of coming to Saint Robert’s, I am confident

that they will experience our typical hospitality and warm and loving welcome to this area and that they will take

with them lasting memories of the wonderful people in Warrington PA.

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE RESERVED TICKETS FOR THE FESTIVAL OF FAMILIES (SATURDAY,

SEPTEMBER 26) AND THE PAPAL MASS (SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27), PLEASE STOP IN THE PARISH

OFFICE THIS WEEK (9am THROUGH 4:30 pm) TO PICK UP YOUR TICKETS FOR THESE EVENTS. I

AM PLEASED THAT ALL THE PARISHIONERS WHO REQUESTED TICKETS HAVE BEEN

ACCOMODATED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION WITH THIS PROCESS.

May this historic week in our archdiocese be for all of us a time of grace with the renewal of our minds,

hearts and souls in the glory of Jesus present in the Blessed Sacrament and in the person of our Holy Father, Pope

Francis!

Saint Robert Bellarmine, pray for us!

FROM THE DESK OF

MRS. JASTER

APPLE OF MY EYE: Congratulations to the first students who were recognized for doing something good: Shane Golebiewski, Mary Frattara, Paul McDonnell, Naina

Rastogi-Wilson Julia Fellmeth. CAR RIDERS: When dropping the children off in the morning, please pull all the way up to where I stand. I am outside daily to help with this process. It gives me a chance to welcome all “my” children each day. Thanks! WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES: As you know,

the Archdiocese of Philadelphia is hosting the World Meeting of Families next week. This will be a week-long conference devoted to family issues and our faith. The World Meeting of Families will culminate next weekend with a visit by Pope Francis and a number of public events. I am happy to share that Mrs. Jennifer Durkin, our Pre-

K teacher, will be working with a team of interpreters at the World Meeting and at the Papal events! Due to the World Meeting of Families taking place in Philadelphia next week, we will not be in school on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, September 23 – 25. AFGHAN GUILD: The St. Rober t Bellarmine Par ish Afghan Guild was established in 1998 and has distributed over 3500 afghans to organizations that give aid to people in need. The Afghan Guild is looking for some help. They would appreciate monetary donations or skeins of yarn (7oz. 4ply). Let’s see if we can help this very worthy cause! JUST A THOUGHT: As we look forward to the upcoming World Meeting of Families and the presence of Pope Francis, I thought these words of his about families were especially noteworthy: The family is where we are formed as people. Every family is a brick in the building of Society.” This week, as we countdown the days to the visit of the Pope, let us all be especially grateful for our families and do what whatever we can to build up families and communities!

Mrs. Barbara Palo (Director of Teen Ministry–[email protected])● Facebook: St. Rober t Teen Ministry Program

I am wondering if anyone would be interested in going by train in town on Wednesday the 23rd for Adoration at the Basilica and a walk around the parkway where the Pope will be. We would be participating in a special way as an adorer for the WMOF event and if you are not going to see the Pope I thought this might be cool to just be there and see where everything will take place. Then when you watch the event unfold on TV you will

have some perspective about the area and know you were there. Just a thought....... If there is interest we will go. I will keep you updated

Reminder: Our Forty hours celebration is September 20 thru 22. Check out the next page for more details. Note the special 5pm service with dinner to follow on Sunday. Plan on spending time before the Lord in Adoration and participate in the evening talks with Fr. Tralies

The Run for Life 5K to benefit A Baby's Breath on Saturday, October 3rd at Tyler State Park welcomes the support of our teens. A Baby's Breath is a crisis pregnancy center right here in Warminster .

TEEN MINISTRY MEETING The Teen Ministry Thursday night meetings will begin on Thursday October 1st from 7:30 to 8:30 in the chapel. All students in 7th thru 12th grades are welcome. FOCUS ON FAITH TWENTY FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Wisdom 2:12, 17-20; James 3:15—4:3; Mark 9:30-37

“The Son of Man is to be handed over to men and they will kill him,

and three days after his death the Son of Man will rise.” Mark 9:31

Isn’t it ironic that Jesus, the leader and teacher of the disciples will be reduced to the

least when he is handed over and dies. In the midst of this Gospel the disciples argue

among themselves about who is the greatest! Jesus reduces them to silence. He guides

them in understanding greatest and least, first and last, servant of all. Jesus own death

is a call to die to self, to choose to become the greatest by being the least. Confronted

with this saving mystery, we too are reduced to silence. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday,

during our Forty Hours Devotion, we have a wonderful opportunity to spend time in

silence, simply contemplated his saving unconditional for each of us!

Preparing for the World Meeting of Families

On Tuesday we will have our annual Eucharistic Procession.

Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament begins at the close of the 11:00 Mass on

Sunday, September 20. Perpetual Adoration will continue over the three days ending with a

Eucharistic Procession on Tuesday.

The Eucharist is Jesus who gives himself entirely to us. To nourish ourselves with him and abide in him through Holy

Communion, if we do it with faith, transforms our life into a gift to God and to our brothers …” (To let ourselves be

nourished by the “Bread of Life,” ) means to be in tune with the heart of Christ, to assimilate his choices, thoughts,

behaviors.” Pope Francis
