Ethics Point Hotline: As part of the ongoing efforts of the Diocese of Paterson to strengthen and support a culture of integrity, mutual accountability
and responsibility, an ethics hotline for the use of employees, volunteers, parishioners, vendors and other interested parties is

matters and human resource issues. Ethics Point, an independent third-party company, has been selected to offer all diocesan
parishes, schools, agencies and departments the opportunity to file reports via the web at www.patersondiocese.org or
through a call to 1-855-247-3140. For more information, check the Ethics Point link on the diocesan website.

The Rosary Join us in Praying the Rosary on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
After the 8:30 AM Mass.
Eucharistic Adoration Every Friday after the 8:30 am Mass
until 10:00 am Come to pray before the Lord,
to give thanks and hear his voice in the quiet of your heart. Benediction is celebrated at the conclusion of Holy Hour
Pastor’s Column Today is the Liturgical mid-point of Advent. As we celebrate the Third Sunday of
Advent today called Gaudete Sunday, we rejoice that the feast of the Nativity is
near. Our waiting in anticipation of the birth of Jesus Christ takes on a different
emphasis today. We focus on his birth not on the ends times. Today, we start the
ancient “O” antiphons, the titles of the Lord. We say them when we sing O Come
O Come Emmanuel. The handout in the bulletin lists them in this week at home
section. These antiphons are prayed as the opening antiphon at mass and in the
Liturgy of the Hours. Take time to read the handout in the bulletin to reflect on
the themes presented in this week’s liturgy as we journey to the feast of the
Nativity of the Lord. These titles are given to Jesus by the prophets in the Old
Testament.
On our Advent journey to Christmas let us not lose sight of what the real reason
for the season is that we celebrate the Incarnation that our Savior becomes a
man just like us in order to save us from damnation.
This year with the Fourth Sunday of Advent on Christmas Eve we really
don’t have a Fourth Week just part of a liturgical day. Because of this we
are obligated to go to mass on Sunday to fulfill the Fourth Sunday; these
masses will be on Saturday night at 5:00pm and Sunday at 10:00am. The
Christmas masses will be on December 24 at 5:00pm, 8:00pm an 11:00pm
and Monday, Christmas Day at 10:00am. We are obligated to attend mass
for Advent and Christmas. We cannot attend one mass for both days; each
day is a separate celebration.
I know this is confusing but this is the liturgical landscape for the feast of
Christmas.
A Blessed Advent, Fr. Rich
